Wolves 1 Middlesbrough 0 - Verdict thread

There are foreign players who don't fancy it if they get kicked or if the weather is a bit iffy. There are British players like that too. Cough, Kevin McDonald, cough.

Pitch size makes little difference in the grand scheme of things, the range between permissible minimum and maximum size is so narrow as to render it basically irrelevant.

I admit I don't know the specific rules in England, but at least in America any matches played at NYCFC basically shouldn't count. Yankee Stadium is a fucking joke as a soccer pitch.

camp nou is one of the biggest i think, to gain Barcas possession play

That's probably the most extreme example in the world though :icon_lol: I've watched a couple of games from there, it genuinely takes my eyes a while to adjust to what the fuck is going on.

Boca Juniors comes to mind.

The New York derby is on right now (David Villa has just scored) and it actually makes me angry. If I was a player with aspirations of playing in MLS I'd tell NYCFC to shove it based on this pitch alone (not that I'd have a choice, what with MLS' weird rules).

Trump will decide i guess

They are having a mare getting permission to build a stadium of their own. Manhattan, Brooklyn and Bronx options all rejected..

There's a reason why just about every major New York franchise plays in New Jersey.

Isnt it only the NFL and Red Bull teams that don't play in NY? Nicks, Islanders, Yankees, Mets and Rangers all play in NY.

Fair point.

Basically if want to seat more than 30,000 and don't already own the land you want, good luck. Anything that's not already there is basically going to have nowhere to go, and I suppose I don't really count things like Madison Square Garden because that's used for way more than just the Knicks. More of an event center.

Might have played in Champions League but they've never done it on a cold Tuesday night in Barnsley, Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't it get pretty bloody cold in Zagreb, Moscow, St Petersburg etc...

I'm not worried about the wet Tuesday night in Barnsley analogy for the reasons it's trotted out. After watching Saturday and the energy levels used I am concerned about whether we will have the ability to play like that Sat, Tues, Sat. Although as Bear's team shows in the Yeovil thread we have the squad depth to rotate all 11 players there are only a couple of positions where you could argue it's not being weakened. Phil's injury record is questionable and him not being fit now feels very much like Silvio to me and as Kenny said last week Marshall could well have one of our 'do nothing for 3 months and then have an operation' type of injuries. Graham at RWB is a risk, so unless the injury prognosis of those two is better than I've portrayed I'd be looking to bring another of them in as well as a LWB if Vinagre is seen as too raw.

I really don't understand that "rainy night in wherever the fuck" line. Partly because England isn't the only place in the world where it gets cold and/or rains, and partly because it's just fucking stupid! What, do these professional athletes care more about the weather than winning? I can't comprehend that a professional competitor would be so easily put off from their desire to win.

Well you know what those Dolphin wimps are like when they go to the Bills in December!

The Neves pass. Someone caught it on camera.

What's frustrating? The defender did his job and stopped the cross, it happens.

It was a shit decision from Doc. He literally gave away the ball when he was in more space than the ISS. He had nobody to aim at and made a piss poor decision, Neves would have every right to be pissed off.

Loved that pass. There was a solid 2-3 seconds where the crowd went quiet and couldn't work out who he'd pinged it to - then Doherty came out of no where and didn't even need to break stride. The cross got blocked, but the sooner we have someone with more quality running on to those passes, the better.

Neves did misplace a couple of passes early doors (one of them made the shit highlights on the website, when he hit it early to try and release Jota but scuffed it). However, we should feel lucky to have a player of his quality in our shirt, because I don't think he'll be here too long. He's absolute class.

The Saiss pass to Jota (I think) was also top drawer. It's nice to have 2 top drawer midfielders playing at Wolves, we've waited years for this to happen.
