Dunno if all the rumours are true but even if some of them are, it's a worry, especially the one about Jonny being shopped around.

In some ways this is more disappointing than the fact that Neves will be gone in the Summer, as that has been expected for some time now.

Jonny is a fantastic player, would really hurt us to loose him especially after having had 2 seasons of him being injured.

The tape of that match should be given to our players and told to emulate that performance.
They're only blokes, we should be able to change from sideways to forwards easily enough with this tape to guide us.

I only saw 2 penalty shouts, Chiquinho and Neto, both pens imo, on motd that fat idiot JP thought both decisions were correct because the defender 'got the ball' the pundits didn't mention us at all never mind look at the incidents.

and yet in the following match there were two tackles, straight away, that led to fouls and the commentator basically said it was still a foul even though the player got the ball and "you can't tackle like that"!

I don't think we were that bad in possession (when we actually could get the ball off them), in fact better than we have looked for a while. But out of possession we were a bit of a shambles and there seemed to be more than one or two players who didn't know what they were doing or didn't like what they were supposed to be doing so just dialled in their performance. Donk tried but spent most of his time running around looking completely lost, and he was probably the best of the midfield 3 last night (a rarity I know). Coady looked all over the place and Jonny looked like he's already made up his mind that he doesn't want to be here any longer. Which is a shame because he's generally been a good player and pro.

However if a Wolves player had made the 2 tackles in the first 15 minutes that De Bruyne made we would have been down to 10 men.

If one of pur players had dived like Sterling did he would have been booked.

If those 2 tackles had been made in the Wolves box they would have had 2 pens.

So whilst the result was fully deserved, and City showed why they are going to win the league, you cant help but wonder what would have happened had the Ref actually done his job.

Yeah because these players were performing for Nuno too, lost 4-0 to Burnley and couldn’t beat a Utd reserve team in his last game which would have been a great send off.

Best manager i’ve seen at our club by some way but we can’t forget it was pretty bad at the end even allowing for Covid.

A couple of things in last nights performance summed up where the squad is, and what needs to be changed moving forwards. There was one occasion in the first half where Chiquinho chased his man back and robbed him of possession, turned around with the ball and played it to Donk. For some reason, Donk decided to play it first time back to Chiquinho, who had 4 City players around him. Not only a stupid braindead underhit pass, but backwards in direction and playing a teammate, who's making his first full start, in to trouble. Chiquinho lost possession but still tried his hardest to chase back again.

In the second half, the same two players involved but this time Chiquinho was under pressure and accidentally plays a pass wide of Donk, who does this whole elaborate arms in the air motion showing his disappointment with his teammate. He didn't bother chasing back and instead concentrated on making a show. In the meantime, Chiquinho is running back past him to try and at least make an effort to retain possession.

I don't even think Donk was particularly bad last night, but those two small examples show for me where some of the playing squad are compared to others. The team desperately needs an injection of new blood. That alone will bring new enthusiasm and effort. Things have gone stale and they seem to have lost their fight. Wholesale changes don't have to happen every 3-4 years if you're steadily growing and improving the squad - but we've failed on that front and now we have no choice to go for the wholesale option. I said it after the Brighton game and I'll say it again; there is genuinely only 3-4 players max that I would be disappointed to see go from this squad.

The problem is, I don't trust Fosun or Jeff & co to make the adequate changes that we desperately need. They also have the "but we finished 8th" argument to fall back on, whilst ignoring the alarmingly poor performances and form that we are currently in. I'm very worried about next season.

As soon as I saw the line up my heart sank and any optimism I had about getting something out of the game disappeared. Johnny at right centre back and Chiquinho at right wing back was just bizarre. Especially with Mosquera and Gomes on the bench. Coady appears to be getting slated again by some but I've got a great deal of sympathy for him in that set up. At times it even looked like a back four with Chiquinho being pushed up the field and Johnny in the wing back position. Take the first goal for example. Sa kicks it out and it's Chiquinho trying to head it just before the halfway line. As he does Johnny is pushed up and almost on the line to the right. That's pulled Coady over who's suddenly faced with Silva and De Bruyne. Does he close down Silva or try and follow the run of De Bruyne? Silva's too skilful and De Bruyne too quick and it's in the back of the net. What's worse though is that Boly has also been pulled right over and Ait Nouri is struggling to get back (because he's also pushed right up), leaving Sterling in acres of space in the middle should De Bruyne decide to pass rather than shoot.

The point is we were never going to get anything out of the game playing like that. All of our results against City have been built on a strong and well organised defensive base where we gave them little if any space. Yesterday was a shambles and that's not down to Coady or any of the other players.

I thought Boly used to have at least at little bit of pace. He looks slower than Coady now and it was the same at Chelsea. Looks like he’s got concrete boots on.

As for Atkinson, the thing that amused be so much was his novlety hand signals. Gave two handballs in the middle of the pitch which were just ricochets and entirely accidental and gave a hand ball signal with his hand by his side, then the same thing happens to Fernandinho, makes the same gesture but no pen. They are either all handball or none of them are.

Same with the crossing over arms symbol. Players crossed over and got wiped out, does that symbol and no foul. Happens later on, same symbol but this time a foul. He was literally making it up as he went along. Seemed to think the game was a retirement party and was just a jolly rather than actually just being a ref.

Spot on that is, and whilst it was far from Coady's best game the "mistakes" he made were from situations where he had been let down by his team mates.

Yep, was absolutely bizarre stuff from him.

So definitive with his "no way" on the Fernandinho incident. I haven't seen it back so I couldn't say either way, but how the fuck could he be so sure from how far away he was? Just say no like a normal person and if you're wrong then VAR will tell you.
