Wolves 1-0 West Ham: Verdict Thread

Just watched he highlights and it’s noticeable how many empty seats there are in the NB Lower, it was noticeably easier to get out of the upper last night too.

I might be an 80s throwback in some respects but not really when it comes to football. 80s football was rubbish.

Nevertheless I very much enjoyed it when Agba gave it a 70 yard 1983 style hoof downfield when Toti was dicking about (again).

He's quality, I just don't know why we didn't sign him 6 months earlier if he was on our radar and we were selling a first choice CH.

I also liked the way he was rallying the players in our box and urging them to focus during the West Ham corner that Mavrapanos and Sa got booked for their shenanigans

WHU fans seem to be very bitter this morning. A lot of moaning about us over celebrating and diving?

Personally I thought they were the dirtiest team I've seen at Molineux in a long time, the referee totally failed to get on top of it and their own fans were absolutely pathetic apart from a few halfhearted Bubbles chants in the first 5 minutes.

In a microcosm it wasn't the pricing either, as Deutsch posted previously last night it was reasonable. Losing sths hurts even more at this time of year if the season is effectively over. If I was one I'd have gone last night, not being meant I didn't buy a ticket irrespective of the price or my availability. It would still have been £50 with petrol. Unless they Cat C it Brentford could be ¼ empty.

Are you enjoying the Upper?

Meh, there’s a lot more moaning and it’s frustrating when people leave early and block the view. On the upside the facilities are a million times better.

I thought there were a couple of reckless challenges by West Ham, notably Paqueta on Gomes. I don’t think there was particularly malicious intent there. Other than that nothing too bad, Everton were far dirtier. The ref, Harrington, let a couple of fouls go early on and as I predicted to my lad soon lost control and seemed to start reffing by a toss of a coin.

I never understand why fans moan about the other team celebrating winning, it's embarrassing (the moaning I mean).
Did see a few comments from some of their fans saying they wished the atmosphere at theirs was as good as Molineux.
Would have loved to go last night but just couldn't get there in time, very much looking forward to the Spurs game.

Loved seeing some of the players and Vitor geeing up the crowd - such a different mentality in and around the squad now.

That's us safe now surely. Ipswich aren't going to magically win 5 games.
The form beneath us is horrendous, and either Ipswich or Leicester will need to win 5 out of 9 games now, and when they both had a form record that reads 1 point and 0 points from their last 6, then...

It's more likely that we'll catch Everton on current form even though they haven't lost for a while as they keep drawing.

I've learned over the last far too many years never to count chickens, but even I'm looking at the table and feeling pretty comfortably now.

They can't have it both ways.

We're near the bottom and they probably think we're shit and they won the World Cup and should be rolling us over, then when we get three points that probably guarantees us safety and celebrate it in front of our own fans it sets them off

Football fans are fucking weird at times.

Agbadou is a big part of the reason for that. It's amazing what a difference having a defender who actually can defend makes.
Although he scares me in possession sometimes, his pass makes the first goal. Direct and aggressive.

JSL is 3 behind Rauls best ever premier league haul FWIW. No mean feat given are season. Reason to be optimistic

Re Semedo my only criticism of him is that he's not really a wing-back but a very good full-back. His one on one defending is possibly the best at the club, but he sometimes switches off positionally in our own box. He's been a very good player for us and Lima needs to develop into a good consistent player to replace him.
Semedo has been the least of our problems the past few years. Yes, could have a better attacking output, but if he did, he wouldn’t have left Barca for us

You’d have better luck asking a rock to recite Shakespeare than getting Nelson to jump properly while backpedaling.
I read that as ‘the rock’. Reckon Dwayne has it up his leave tbh 😉

Very pleasing to win this ahead of the Ipswich game on Saturday. Thought we were excellent first half, Joao Gomes, Andre and JRB in particular. JG was playing so well that in my head I thought it would be just our luck if he went off injured and at a couple of points it looked like he was done but he managed the full 90 minutes. Second half West Ham were better but we dug in and managed to hold out.

Another clean sheet, 20 points won by Vitor since he came in and to go from 5 points adrift to 12 (13 with GD) clear in early April is an excellent return.

Ipswich face a very tricky trip to Bournemouth tonight, Leicester are at City then face Newcastle on Monday night. Neither of these sides are making up 13 points over 9 games and that relies on us not gaining another point.

I hope Fosun back Vitor and ensure we are not in this shitty situation again in 12 months time.

The ding on Semedo will always be the price. £30m and £100k a week is a lot on a full/wing back for a club like us. Probably wasn't ever going to be vfm, which isn't his fault. Playing in largely average to struggling sides he's been a good player if you ignore the expectation.

My West Ham pal at work singled out RAN & Joao Gomes for “play acting” and “going down too easy”. It’s what football fans do. And to be honest, we probably did overcelebrate in their view - but being Wolves fans, we understand that this is a culmination of where we’ve come from with Gaz, Vítor’s short journey - and that result more or less guaranteeing our safety. We had to properly dig in & it was a highly emotional atmosphere. I can quite easily see why it would have put their noses out of joint, but I also remember Bowen acting the cock in the game v them earlier in the season - plus last night alone they were attempting the dark arts throughout.

As someone said last night, they can’t have their cake and eat it too. Fuck ‘em, I say. And we might actually catch them up now, which would be glorious.

Has it been mentioned on here that Vitor & one of his background team have a touchline ban at the weekend?
