Wolves 1-0 West Ham: Verdict Thread

Re Semedo my only criticism of him is that he's not really a wing-back but a very good full-back. His one on one defending is possibly the best at the club, but he sometimes switches off positionally in our own box. He's been a very good player for us and Lima needs to develop into a good consistent player to replace him.
You’d have better luck asking a rock to recite Shakespeare than getting Nelson to jump properly while backpedaling.

I can’t get my head round the fact that other clubs have been sleeping on this guy. Seems to have the lot whilst others clubs singing what appears to be worse players for twice the price from the same league.
I could be imagining it, but we seem to have a deeper scouting network in France than most of the clubs in our bracket.

Goal should definitely be saved. He's not wrongfooted and it goes nowhere near the corner.

Take your pick which one of Munetsi's misses is worse.

Munetsi's second effort was worse, he kicked it like my 8 year old daughter kicks a football.

(To clarify she doesn't like football or know how to kick a football.)

Played some decent stuff in the first half, second half was difficult on the eye...

Toti was a bomb scare all match. First time he dicked about with the ball he lost possession and they were through on goal. Lesson learnt... oh no! He did the same thing again several times over with the exact same result!

Great to get the 3 points to pretty much nail on staying up. Loved Vitor's body language with a few minutes to go and at full time! I wonder if Gary "the answers aren't in that dressing room" O'Neil is still watching??

I’m not sure signing a starter from a midtable French side counts as a particularly deep scouting network. But I was more getting at the fact that Chelsea and United have thrown way more money and what appears to be inferior players from the same league. Admittedly someone like Yoro is only 19 but £60m is a hefty outlay

I mean the line starts with Romain, really, assuming you want to keep things to Fosun. Rayan, Marshall, Emmanuel, Jean-Ricner; all from clubs that aren’t exactly “in vogue”, as it were.

I dunno, could be a teacup storm.

It does seem really hard to square the Pablo we got with the Pablo he used to be.

If you watch the highlights you might notice he wins the ball to set up Munetsi’s miss.

People have an agenda, fine, plenty of it fair comment, but that’s not a performance to comment on one way or another. He came on when we were under the pump and worked hard, won a few free kicks and got RAN away once before the late chance. Even at that most basic of levels its input light years ahead of what you’d have got from Guedes. Easy to see at the match.

Back from our NZ trip visiting family and friends, so I decided to actually make the effort to watch the game live this morning.

Impressive first half followed by a dig in effort in the second half. Wolves were the better team overall and I'm so pleased for Vitor with the way he has managed to turn the team around in such a relatively short space of time (without a pre-season and only one real substantial new squad addition).

The stats (many mentioned in this thread) are very impressive and with 8 games to go, 12 pts and goal difference clear of 18th, relegation is now pretty much a distant memory.

Will have to see a replay back but I thought from the NB that the goal was very saveable, deflection or not. Not our problem.
I saw it as an excellent centre forwards goal. Don't try to walk the ball into the net, but see a chance and hit it hard.
Bully would have been proud of that!

Cut out the West Ham chances from our mistakes and last nights result would feel a bit less nervy
Think most people would agree that the first half we outfootballed them with Gomes and Andre majestic
I often feel when Doc gets the ball that he is our weakest defensive link, but he’s far more assured than Toti, who does have a lovely turn of pace in certain situations then other times, like on several occasions last night, he just freezes.
Anyway good 3 points and should be safe
MOM Gomes…. Just a machine!!!

Kudos to Potter for taking JWP off a minute or so before they got a free kick in a good position. After goals in his last two visits to Molineux it would have been far nervier with him lining up to hit it.
