Wolves 1-0 Spurs: Verdict Thread

Neto was disappointing. Clearly holding out of tackles which is never a good sign. Very strange to start him but I guess Cunha wasn't fit enough for a full game and if Traore is going to play well it is invariably off the bench. all worked out well in the end.
Thought the game passed him by a bit, didn't really find space enough and when he did get into space he got ignored by the players on the ball.
After the point where he would have been through and got cleaned out (fuck knows why that wasn't a yellow) he disappeared a bit.

Great result.

Few things to disagree with others on:

The change of formation to 3-4-3 was key to the change in performance. We nullified their extra man in midfield and pushed their wing backs backward.

We played a very fluid front 3 in the second half which worked for everybody. Even Adama, who made two sliding tackles and pressed all over. I've never seen him do that before.

Raul was superb with players close to him and fluid movement around him. The ball he played for Cunha was beautiful.

Sarabia finds lovely pockets of space and is always available for a pass. Looked much better in the 3-4-3.

Moutinho took control of the midfield when on and his positioning was first class and key to us winning the game.

The whole back 5 were great.

Raul my MotM, but for 2 top drawer Forster saves he'd have got off the mark.

We shall not talk of the first half or Nunes performance today.

Edit: Lemina was limping when he came out to the bench second half. General consensus was an injury.

Jeff Shi laughing and joking to the Lamborghini song seemed to make his day. Football is weird.

Syco, excellent post and saved me a ton of work describing what you have so well

Again for all the bad points in Adama’s game, when he does switch on you have to give him credit. Spuds shat themselves every time he was on the ball

Come on me babiz 🤣🐺👍🧡🖤
I'm definitely printing this off, framing it and hanging it I my 'den'🤣

First half was absolutely rubbish. Couldn't get anything going at all in possession and far too passive off the ball.

A surprising switch to three at the back (especially Lemina going off - injured, as he was our best midfielder by a fair margin?) but it worked for us. Son should have scored right after HT but we gradually stepped into the game and were genuinely excellent in the final half hour. Should have had at least three goals. Cunha next to Raul makes such a difference (don't aim for the tiniest area of the goal when you're clean through though!). Dawson and Semedo fabulous throughout and that was much more like the old Jonny. Brilliant cameo by Moutinho too. Adama had a 10 minute repeat of Anfield on Wednesday but then was spot on. If he did it more often, well he wouldn't be playing for us, would he.

Big weekend with some hefty gains. Lovely, lovely stuff. Enjoy it folks.

Wouldn't be so sure on that. We now have a squad where players are going to miss out. Hwang and Boubacar back soon so some are going to miss out.
We went for the extra CB today, maybe with the thought we may switch to the 5, Kilman carrying a broken nose etc. Lop and his team seem to do as much thinking on the set up of the bench as they do the starting XI

Few weeks back Costa was binned from the bench and there he was starting today.
Leaving your top scorer out for tactical reasons… With 9 subs if he wanted him on there he’d have been on there. He’s had a rocket up his arse for his stinking attitude and not being as good as he thinks he is.

Even if it is tactical it will knock him down a peg or two and at least JL doesn’t see him as that important moving forward so we can fuck him off.

What was the 5live reporter going on about “scruffy finish by Traore” ?

Forster was great on our goal. The fuck are you weakly pushing that back out into the centre of the penalty area.

It was the only mistake he made all day. A big one admittedly.

Thought he played well for them on the whole.

Massive result especially given the other results all going our way. After the past 3 games since Southampton I wasn't expecting anything from this.

A real game of 2 halves. First half we looked pretty poor and a draw would be our best outcome, fully expecting the Kane in the ass to do us again. 8 minutes of injury time due to lengthy stoppages for injuries to Costa, Kilman and Perisic.

Bringing on Collins and Traore for Neto and Lemina at half time was a bold move especially as we had already subbed Raul on for Costa but a move to 3 at the back which transformed us and made us look much better. Raul looked far better than his outing at Liverpool as did Traore, Neves ran the show and had a hat-trick of good chances shortly before Traore scored.

The winning goal was a beauty from a good Raul effort parried by Forster only for Adama to hit first time with a great finish.

Lop will enjoy treating the lads to a clean sheet meal after that one, a much needed win compounded by the other results too.

Again, lovely coming out of Molineux smiling and enjoying a Saturday night with another 3 points in the bag.

17 points from 11 games under The Lop now, not bad at all and if he had been here producing that form all season we would be looking forward to European football next season. As it is, I just hope we can look forward to another season in the Premier League with The Lop as our guiding hand

If you’d have said before the Bournemouth game we’ll have 4 more points on the board after the spurs game I’d have assumed it was beating Bournemouth and drawing today.

Nice to see Richarlison throwing his toys out of the pram when Moura was brought on ahead of him. Kicked a water bottle and was gesticulating to the bench. Pleasant change from seeing him put Coady on his arse and invariably scoring.

He gets away with all sorts of dirty shit. Most notably backing into a defender jumping for a header to draw a "foul". Can't stand him, disgrace of a player.
Sarabia did exactly this. I applauded loudly

When you’re ‘posting’ happy DW I’m happy

Still a long way to go for us because as soon as we have a day like today we then have a shitter. So we need some consistency.

Deliver what we are capable of instead of some of the tripe we’ve seen this last couple of years and we’re actually a good team.

Few beers and MOTD tonite mate 👍😁
