In the interests of accuracy, Sheff Utd were without Berge, Basham, O'Connell, McBurnie and Sharp yesterday

And I think this is the crux. Without the likes of Raul, Neto, Neves, Jonny et al we are as midtable as it gets and we resort to grinding out wins - Podence aside I couldn't name one bad performance yesterday and Ramsdale actually made a couple of saves, we were just wholly unremarkable and passive but our quality shines through to win games in moments like Jose's goal.

Easier said than done of course but we just need a CB and CM on the same level as Raul, because those players are the difference makers. It's okay to have those solid performers if you have the difference makers.

The other difference this season is Traore hasn't been on fine form either. But it seems to be creeping back in slowly which is good to see.

That wasn't the point, the comment was that Sheff Utd had all their players fit.

You can sneer all you like at the players I mentioned, but they are important to them and all played plenty of games last season when they looked a good team
 
Goals scored isnt directly proportional to performance or entertainment.

Sheffield United were the same as they’ve always been. Not sure why we need to make up shit like “they were fighting for their lives” either.

You’ve tried to be clever, but your point actually proves the opposite of what you want it to. If their key players are dreadful, then what does that make the rest of them?

Neto and Neves have hardly missed many games this season. We've seen plenty of 'grinding' when they've been on the pitch too.

Having one or two of your best players out will have an effect, but let's not pretend that we don't have deeper problems, or that plenty of other teams haven't had it worse.
 
I think we will buy Vitinha. He has shown enough in flashes to be convinced that he can become a very good midfielder. He clearly looks forwards and likes to try and create things. More work on his all-round game and you could see him becoming a very useful player.

Give him a full pre-season and more and more minutes and I think he'll be sized up by Nuno to replace Moutinho in 12-18 months time IMO.

A sign of a good team is to win when you're not playing well, a sign of a bad team is to lose when you're playing well.

Depends who you're playing against.

Playing well against City and losing wouldn't make anyone a bad team.

Equally, a narrow win at home against the rock bottom club is welcome, but not anything to puff your chest out about

It is (well it’s a very basic cliche, that in isolation has some merit, but with depth is a load of bollocks, but anyway...).

Doesn’t mean it can’t be called boring...

Which is simpy my point. Winning a game is not directly proportional to a) performance b) entertainment. But you seem to have missed that...

Who is puffing their chest out? We played pretty much how we've played against lower teams for the past 2 years. Perversely, the fact we beat them is a step forward.

Where have I said that?

I'll take winning every single time. I get more enjoyment out of winning games than I do losing games, but that's just me.

West ham was entertaining, but I don't want to see that ever again.
