Wolves 0 - MK Dons 0 The not good enough result thread

Better than a lot of our players then...

The problem runs deeper than number of goals scored, though.

My problem with Edwards playing the #10 role is that a #10 should be creating chances, opening the oposition defence up and be the creative heartbeat of the team...He should then chip in with the odd goal too. DE does one of those things and just "runs around a lot" which makes it look like he is "doing something".
There is a time and a place for having an "energiser bunny" in the starting eleven but home to a woeful MK Dons team is not one of those times

There any many different "roles" for a number 10. Edwards is doing what is currently being asked of him.

It's the wide players, together with McDonald, that aren't doing enough.

Sideways step here and nowt to do with MK Dons, but it fits the title.
Just sorting through some stuff and found tickets from Wolves v Crystal Palace; Sat 10 April 1999.
If I'm not mistaken that was my youngest son's 1st visit to Molineux. And that was a shit game too.
'Great expectations, must be a few goals and we're bound to win' kind of thing.
And that was 0-0.

Randomly, I think Wolves have always been like this...

Just looking back on that I see this....
The season began with Mark McGhee as manager but he left "by mutual agreement" on 5 November after a run of two victories from fourteen games; the team having begun with four consecutive league wins.[1] Upon McGhee's departure his assistant Colin Lee was placed in charge of the team and, after taking ten points from a possible twelve, he was handed the post for the remainder of the season.[2]

The team finished in seventh place, one position short of the play-offs. Results on the final day, including their own, failed to go in their favour and so they missed out on a chance of promotion to the Premier League. Nonetheless, following the final match, the Wolves board announced that Colin Lee was to be given a permanent contract as manager.[3]

It really is like looking through a series of mirrors isn't it...

McDonald and Afobe's link up play when we're on form is better than anything else in the champ, why not play McD in the number 10 role with Coady and Price behind?

Edwards on the wing then I assume? 😉
Personally I don't think McDonald moves the ball quickly enough to play that high up the pitch and wouldn't have the space he needs if he played 10. I wouldn't have an issue finding out whether I'm correct or not though

I don't think he's mobile enough to play in the No. 10 role either.

Williamson's been recalled by Newcastle, so it'll be Ebanks-Landell in there now.

I've been advocating this all season, but was told it was too negative, McD not quick enough etc..

The problem is one of perception as McD makes the ball move quickly, and playing this way he would hold the centre ground more than Edwards and would stop Afobe dropping so deep and bring the wingers more into play.

IMO we could at least try this at away games.

Of course we could, but then the Manager will again receive comments such as "doesn't know his best team/formation", and so on.

Most people on here seem to have given up on him anyway, so that wouldn't matter.

There's merit in this post. In fairness, of the 8 that have been tried on the left it's been difficult for anyone to get any consistency (& we could include the strikers in that). Henry has been poor on the right, & I don't see what Byrne has done to deserve dropping him.
