Wolves 0-2 Crystal Palace verdict thread

They were beaten after the first. It wasn't natural, it was pathetic.
They were beaten from the kickoff. Surrendered possession immediately and any ambition of being the better team. Try not to concede is the mantra. At home! Doesn't work though.

Footballers are just the same as the rest of people. Some will give their all whatever the circumstances, some will down tools at the first sign of trouble and some will take the piss at the first opportunity. The most frustrating Wolves player currently is JSL who puts more effort into waving his arms about than moving his legs.
Agreed.

His goal for Norway really pissed me off, and just showed how he could play.

However I don't think there are many (any?) other players like that?

Munetsi and Hwang are technically fucking awful, but both are working their respective bollocks off? (Hwang does throw himself to the floor though)

Jackson looks like he is about to burst into tears, Toti gives everything, so do the Brazilians and Krejci, Wolfe does too.

Even Agbadou had his best game for an age yesterday too.

I just don't see a lack of effort with any of them other than JSL?

They're just not good enough, both as individuals or as a collective.

I do find it strange how everyone can say there is there no hope, we are shit, it's pointless, everyone is crap, fuck the world, (I even got told in the match thread I'm gaslighting and contrary for saying for 5 mins after HT we looked better), but the players are arseholes for dropping their heads when they conceded a really unlucky first goal (obviously the second goal, whilst brilliant was Hwang summed up in a microcosm).

I find it strange that you can't distinguish between the actual players contesting the game, and fans expressing their feelings on a forum designed specifically for that purpose.

Our 'heads haven't gone down', we're dissecting years of havoc wreaked on the club we love. Whether we're grinning happy clappers or miserable bastards who refuse to admit a chunk of light has no material effect on the game.

The players partaking in the game who drop their heads (if we're accepting that) certainly does

It wasn't unlucky it was shit defending. If you think looking like a vaguely acceptable PL team for 15 minutes and then just phoning it in when you go 1-0 down at home in the managers first game with 2 points after 12 matches is good enough then go for it.

My point is that if we as fans feel low and shit and fed up about Wolves, and people can barely be bothered to watch or go then those players, whilst being employees will also feel at times like they can't be arsed too, particularly when they concede a goal like that first which (for once) wasn't really anyone's fault.

Sorry, I thought that was obvious, I mean I thought you'd have more respect for me than think I thought what we write on the match thread makes a difference to the game. But hey.

Not what I said was it.

I said I can understand why a team's heads would drop in those circumstances.

What do you expect to happen to a team that hasn't won for 8 months? That they come out stronger, more motivated and more likely to score after they conceded? That's just not how it works is it.

Especially as he'd brought on 2 players who are materially worse than those they replaced immediately after that goal too!

I didn't think you 'didn't know that' obviously, I just thought it necessary to highlight the distinction, as you seemed to be claiming equivalence between the morale of a pro footballer and the morale of unhappy and despondent fans on here, and the effect both have.

Of course it's going to be a sad place on here, look at the state of our club, doesn't mean we don't care, and it's not about 'giving up', it's just obvious by any metric we're down.

People are just naturally picking the bones out of that

Players hopelessly out their depth will be demoralised once they fall behind bit like when lower league sides concede against PL opponents in the cup.
Let’s be frank Palace were just average yesterday and that’s all they needed to do to win comfortably.
0-2 down with 20 to go isn’t human nature to down tools it’s crap player nature.
Players under pressure? You’re playing in the PL it comes with territory so as I’ve said before players belonging at this level deal with it.

Exactly. Its all part of the same thing, they're not good enough, I just don't think it's effort (other than JSL)

All of our signings had never played a minute of Premier League football before we signed them.

Everything about the club has been run amateurish over the past 5 years compared to clubs in a similar situation to us.
