Wolves 0-1 Nottingham Forest: Verdict Thread

Doesn't matter. You presume the new manager was offered the opportunity to get new signings. We need to be trying to improve this side regardless.

Sheff Utd in a similar position bought in Gribic from Ath. Madrid. Granted he turned out to be terrible but they still convinced a player to make a permanent switch. There are plenty of strategies you could look at.

It matters to the player and their agent.

Who is coming here to be part of the Shi clownshow with a guaranteed relegation five months away?

We might get a loan. Might.

You could forgive this squad if we were playing League One football 18 months ago. We'd rode a wave of momentum straight up and were promoted without the squad to match.

The fact we have managed to assemble this squad after 8 uninterrupted years in the Premier League is fucking incredible.
We are nowhere near as good as Ipswich were last year. nowhere close.

I’m with you. Absolutely no idea who we sign. We got linked to the likes of Kalvin Phillips a few weeks back and most/all turned their noses up at the idea of it. KP would laugh his fucking cock off if he saw an ‘01902’ dial code pop up on his phone.

Our recruitment team are pathetic anyway, so hope of them sourcing a few gems from the lower leagues and then persuading them to come here for a certain relegation and working for Fosun/Jeff Shi are slim to none.

I would expect 2-3 through the door of similar profile and quality to Lima, Enzo & Meupiyou. If we’re lucky. They also have their hands tied with the overseas quota etc because the squad management and balance has been bordering on gross negligence for a couple of years now.

It’s a mess and they’ll have no clue how to fix it.

I can tell you exactly what’s going to happen, we will start preparing for the championship and bring in players of that quality to settle in for next season. JSL will leave and will be replaced by somebody like Josh Sargent.

We haven't done succession planning in five years despite becoming a selling club. We aren't starting now.

Josh Sargent would be an improvement on this season’s JSL!

You forgot Fosun don’t always stick their word…

Back to the awful reality which is Wolves 25/26 - I'd have to agree with this being the worst team I've known us have.

There is very little talent, even less commitment/desire and absolutely ZERO leadership in this squad. I'm not having this 'they're trying, they're just not good enough' bullshit anymore either. These lot are bone idle, they don't want to play for the club and they're absolutely NOT putting all their efforts into their game.

Someone made the comparison to Romain Saiss at Boro and coincidentally I thought of that last night. How many of this lot would be prepared to run through walls for their team mates? How many of them could look at themselves in the mirror when they got home and honestly say 'I gave it everything I could tonight'.

They're weak, they're cowardly, they hide from the ball (hi, Arias) and have nothing about them whatsoever. Yes, losing hurts and yes, when you're in THIS much shit, it's tough to dig yourselves out - I get that confidence is rock bottom but FFS earn your fucking wages and respect the club that are paying you and the supporters who go to watch you game after game.

I'm as angry about the state of the club as I have ever been. We're not staying up, and the only thing I can possibly think could realistically happen that would make me slightly less pissed off is Jeff Shi leaving and the owners accepting we're down and planning PROPERLY for next season. That means a complete restructure from top to bottom - the board, the coaching team, the players, the whole ethos of the club. Write this season off and give us SOMETHING to not dread next season. This won't happen, so god knows where we'll end up - I don't think we've hit rock bottom yet.

Merry Christmas.

Any decent Championship player is likely to favour a move to a team in the Championship challenging for promotion over a relegation procession at Wolves. I’d go as far as to say that I’d serious question any player prepared to join us in January. Ironically Trafford on loan might be an exception as it would give him plenty of opportunity to show off his skills in the hope of getting into the WC squad.

Never seen a team as bad as this in my lifetime and I've been around a few fucking years. I'm past being angry, it's what we've all come to expect from this lot, no talent, no team spirit( half of them look like they couldn't give a shit about wearing the shirt. No leadership, no nothing. Earn your wages you lazy buggers.
I did something last night that I've never done, I left with 25 minutes to go, and I won't be going on Monday. It's all become too much of a chore.

I can't be mad at Edwards just yet. Feels pointless repeating what you've all said but let's face it, this place feels more like a support group right now than anything else.

It all comes back to Shi. Rolling terrible decisions and penny pinching, capped off by the mother of all decisions - giving a manager who rarely achieves positive results for more than 6 months the keys to a premier league team, and allow him to scout and recruit an incoherent pile of duds to add to our existing, barely coherent pile of duds.

You can't run a football club by being so apathetic and/or clueless that you'd make a decision like that. No desire for success, no idea how it would be achieved if there was. Feels like behind the scenes is The Thick of It: Football Edition, but without a Malcolm to give everyone bollocking enough that they at least look like they're making a serious effort.

No idea what Fosun are thinking right now but for the love of god please just fire the prick, if only for the temporary catharsis.

I want to know where @prawnking is to rightly pick me up on the optimism I had around Arias?! I’m here to own my poor call. Although, incredibly, he still is preferable to the two alternatives mentioned, and therein lies one of the many, many problems.

Given I attend with a family, I’m going to have to rethink the whole frequency and wider experience. I know of examples where kids in a family with as strong a connection to a club have been put off for life from forcing them to watch this kind of shambles. Definitely need some breaks from going to every match as it’s so bad for our mood.

It amazes me Fosun have left an asset worth hundreds of millions in the hands of a single individual who has demonstrated on numerous occasions that he’s not up to the task. It’s been a steady decline since Shi fell out with Nuno and there’s absolutely nothing to suggest things will change for the better whilst Shi has control.

For me it’s more annoying to hear the free pass he gets and will get from media and fans playing the ‘realistic’ card. Especially media who clearly just like him as their idea of a good manager is someone you’d like to go on a golf weekend to Albufeira with. That’s just an unacceptable lack of critical thinking.

The way we got out of the Championship in recent history was by doing all the things we now seem likely to do the reverse of. Including the managerial appointment.
