I didn't/don't rate Edwards but I've got no problem with him really.
This is the worst squad I've genuinely ever seen in terms of the balance. There is no pace, nobody who can beat a player and nobody who can run in behind. You should have 4/5 in the squad, yet we have 0. It overrides everything and restricts us. You cannot compete at this level, or perhaps any level, when you can't counter-attack.
I'm not having that Leeds are much better than us player for player. But they have pace and mobility up front and out wide.
The squad building was fucking atrocious and that's on Pereira and Teti. It's the worst use of £100m you could imagine. Obviously, the bigger issue is Shi as our trajectory meant relegation was inevitable at some point but they fast-forwarded that process with that shit window.
So what can Edwards do? I think we've been relatively competitive since he took charge but we will only ever get a result if we score first because we have no creativity or pace to get back into a game.
The knock-on effect is that wave and wave of attack so the players who can compete in this league are made to look shit.
We were terrible first half but Arias has to score to put us 1-0 up after the break. We were hugely unfortunate not to go 1-0 up at Villa. I'm not saying we were good by any means but with this group, I think that's as good as we could expect because of the glaring issues in attack.
