Wolves 0-1 Liverpool: Verdict Thread

Just seen the goal again. Sa goes wandering off for no reason. That's 3 errors as if he doesn't the shot is straight at him.

I was a bit stumped by that but there's another Liverpool player comes running towards the centre of the goal as Origi gets the ball, so I'm assuming he's expecting a square ball from Origi to that guy and trying to get in a more central position. Then Coady ends up giving Origi freedom of the box so he can jus let spin around and have a free shot from the corner of the 6 yard box, at that range it's pure pot luck whether it's hit at Sa or not.

I agree on second viewing he tried to anticipate the pass, on the tv angle he looked miles out of position when he shot. Just a quick observation after seeing that but as you say pot luck from that range. Just feel if he'd not tried to do it he'd have saved the shot which wasn't in tbe corner or low so would generally be where I'd expect the keeper to be stood.

Yeah, in hindsight if he's not as aware of other things going on he might get lucky and have it rattle off his shins like Thiago's earlier effort but I'm not going to lay any blame at his feet for it. If he manages to save something from that position then he's bailing people out.

That’s not fair at all. Anticipating etc. There’s no way you can class that goal as a goalkeeping error

Fuck the linesman. Thought you were supposed to play-on now with offside. It was if his arm was attached to a piece of string controlled by Henderson.
I’m confused also, although a bit difficult being in the NB, but we did have a couple of occasions where it looked tight, certainly one move where Raul latched onto a through ball in the 2nd half but the lino had is flag up in a shot. If it was clearly off yes get the flag up, but I also thought that the instruction was to play on until the move had finished. That certainly didn’t happen, so would welcome any comments from others who were in a better position than me

It probably is harsh and on reflection agree with Mark. It just looked so bad when I saw it initially, like he'd gone walk about

🤣🤣🤣 why do people embarrass themselves with these weird “i’M a BeTtEr fAn ThAn u CoS I WaS tHeRe” posts? I cringe every time I read stuff like this.

I too, can see that Adama doesn’t particularly defend as well as others in the team and when you’re crying out for him to press, it’s incredibly frustrating to see him trotting along miles from the play. But when he’s effectively tasked with being the *only* person in our team who can carry the ball 50-60 yards up the pitch and the *only* attacking threat in the side, whilst also getting kicked all over the park, I think I’m within my rights to call out your post for being particularly harsh.

You can disagree all you like, but cut out the patronising bullshit about “being in the ground”. You’re better than that.
It's got nothing to do with being a superfan, all about the fact that you can see a more balanced view of what's going on all over the pitch, rather than what the cameras want you to see.
Tbh I think there's a lot less of the patronising stuff about going every week on here than any other site

Don’t be a dick. What I mean is the camera is usually following the ball so you will have missed a lot of the lazy, slovenly rubbish Traore was delivering.

Maybe. Need to relook. Didn’t watch the replay I was having a paddy. Either way I wouldn’t class it as a goalkeeping error. Just bloody frustrating in the 93rd minute

Like I said before, if we lose 1-0 from a goal in say the 56th minute it doesn’t feel as bad.

On the plus side, the green monkey is going down well

Thought Traore is the same as he’s always been.

He was our biggest threat, didn’t move and doesn’t defend. Wouldn’t say I saw anything today that suggested “he was off” and “didn’t care”. Literally how he’s always been.

Can't agree with that Punts, he's always not had football smarts, but today was another level. There were times we were on the attack and he was walking. One in the second half springs to mind, Raul gets a ball down the right channel, when it's played Adama is the player closest to him. At best he put in a gentle jog and was nowhere to receive the ball.

Yeah I saw times like that, but assumed he was knackered after his 20th 60m sprint. Can’t be that explosive all game.

Maybe I’m being too kind, or my expectations are already pretty low I saw no difference.

I get what you’re saying, but surely you yourself are following the ball whilst watching? I wouldn’t be paying 40’quid to just watch the defensive movements of players up the other end of the pitch?

I don't get this biggest threat nonsense either, being realistic we weren't any threat going forward today.

Traore isn't a threat when he's wide and we have no fucker in the box to hit.

Part of Sa is that he tries to anticipate and 8 times out of 10 it works for him and it brings a solidity we have not had perhaps ever! I can’t remember a keeper like him! But……… he has brain farts. He should not have gone walkabout for Jotas chance. You get there or you stay home not wipe out your wing back! On the goal I have no issues. He guessed wrong and they scored. There was plenty before that which could have prevented the concession. KJH doing a lot better for starters.
Still a bit raw tbh. If Mike Tyson turned up wanting a fight I would probably accommodate him. That’s how impaired my judgement is tbf 🤣🤣

In hindsight today, we lost 1-0 but we all know that they utterly dominated from minute one.

When you approach a game trying desperately to anything but lose, like we clearly did, it’s always a dangerous game to play - in fact, against the top sides, you’re almost always going to come unstuck at sone point. You really need some sort of counter attack too - and we didn’t really even have that today.

If Jota’s chance goes in, we have to come out and play and go for the equaliser. In that situation, it’s probably likely that Liverpool would have picked us off for at least a couple more.

Let’s be honest, heroic defensive display aside, we pretty much got what we deserved today.
