Winter Improvement Thread (aka Winter Squad Weakening Thread and TWF Suicide Watch)

Wage structure has nothing to do with Kenny Jackett. This is likely to be the reason we miss many of our targets.

I accept we are not in the same league as Boro, Derby, Sheff wed etc - but we are not Rotherham. ALF and Mason just as two examples both came here having been earning a reported 15k and 10k at Cardiff - do you think they took a cut in pay to come here?

We do have a policy on wages, that is well documented - however KJ should work his resources better. He gets off scott free and painted as some kind of poor victim while the board always take ALL the flak. It is time Thelwell's position also gets put under scrutiny.

Kike going to Elbar according to the Spanish guy from Sky. Baligue or however you spell it.

It ISN'T fair enough by that self centred spunktrumpet MacAnthony - I'm sure Moxey will be delighted that he's tweeted it.
Could you imagine if Moxey was on Twitter. It'd be great!

I agree with that. It's a dickhead move from him and most of our fans have used it to have a go at Jez again about not spending but while i'm not happy that we haven't replaced Afobe really i wouldn't have spent £2.5 million on Washington right now.

I think it's poor from both Moxey and Darragh.

Good job he didn't say the same about Afobe last January.

That isn't true on this forum at all. Kenny get's the blame for the shit recruitment. John Marshall the head of recruitment, Kevin Thelwell, Head of Recruitment and development and Jez Moxey get away with murder on this forum.

If we can't put out a team of players, playing in their correct positions, you will not get decent football.

It's not new news, he first said it a week or so ago before we had signed Mason

Personally, I was quite excited going in to this deadline day. We'd made noises about having an extensive list of targets and had concrete plans on bringing in a striker yada yada. To end the day with nothing - I shouldn't be surprised, but I'm disappointed.

That's garbage. As DW pointed out nobody has forced to play one of the worst defenders in a Wolves shirt at LB. Nobody forces Jackett to play Coady, a clearly inferior player to Price, in CM or worse still on the right of a midfield 3. The manager is garbage and has been for the last 3 months.

The recruitment too has been shocking but nobody has blamed Jackett solely and it is only you and the departed Cyber-Man that keep bleating on the same lines, it's fucking boring and unsubstantiated to boot.

Meh - it's no WOlverhampton, is it? I bet the beer is shite.

Ultimately I think the frustration is that 12 months ago we'd got ourselves in a position where we had an exciting team that looked capable of a proper top six challenge as a minimum. The points/goals per game return from Afobe's arrival would certainly back that up. And now:

Ikeme (has been awful all season, one of the sharpest declines in form for Wolves I have ever seen)

Iorfa (still here, for how long though?)
Stearman (gone)
Batth (regressed badly this season)
Golbourne (gone)

Henry/VLP (both still here, both still unconvincing as a long term answer)
Price (not in the team, £2m spent on replacing him with a much worse footballer)
McDonald (still here)
Sako (gone)

Dicko (out for the season)
Afobe (gone)

Now that is not healthy. In 12 months pretty much every area of the starting XI has gone backwards. You're supposed to build from a position of relative strength, not systematically weaken yourselves.

You can change that (still here) for McDonald to a (regressed badly this season) as well.

You should apply for a job as head coach at Wolves as you are so convinced you know better than Kenny Jackett, which player is better and where he should play. Of course people can have opinions, but that is just what they are.

I respect DW views a lot, but my first post on this was a reply to DW saying how short we are of players in certain positions. He has posted before about how bad Kenny is as a football manager. What I'm saying, is you can't expect a manager to play decent football if you can't put a team out, with players playing in their respective positions.

I don't think kenny is a PL manager, but Wolves aren't showing any ambition to be a PL club, which is what really pisses me off.

I don't blame our failings squarely at KJ, but I do blame him for the dire football we have served up this season.

And if we "show ambition" and fail, what then? Were we not ambitious enough? Would you rather we show ambition like Bolton and Birmingham did? There's a lot of hindsight management going on there.

I think you severely simplify what it takes to run a club and be successful at it. As if Morgan wakes up in the morning and decides, "today I'm going to do a mediocre job, because who cares?"

We can't just get promoted because we want to or because we throw money at it.

I think you aren't streetwise, Alan. Do you think we are showing ambition to get in to the PL?

You didn't answer the question. Do you think we are showing ambition to get in to the PL?

Well it's quite clear that we aren't at the moment. That includes the amount of money we are spending, the players we are signing and the manager we have in charge.

I don't know. You can't quantify ambition. That's my whole point. Only the people inside the club know what the goals are. But the money of reaching the Prem is easy to see.

What possible reason could there be for the club to not want to be there?
