Winter Improvement Thread (aka Winter Squad Weakening Thread and TWF Suicide Watch)

Don't have a real problem if RVLP goes as think for all that he can produce quality, flatters to deceive much of the time.

However if he is going then would want to bring someone else in to cover that role as (apart from those injured or not trusted by Kenny) there is not much else out there in the squad

If the Rhodes, Kike, VLP deals are all interlinked as Nixon says then he won't be going anywhere unless we get somebody else in

Not sure why he'd bother leaving here to go to Huddersfield. They ain't going anywhere ever.

He's probably pissed off at Wolves but he's back in favour now so move on from it. Or wait till at least a decent opportunity comes before you leave.

Would guess there are a fair few deals in the balance across the country that will only need 1 pull out to see them fall through.

I wonder if KJ is going back to how he started the season in terms of set up. Could be the opportunity for Wallace to return after his 28 days are up.

He has mentioned Mason being suited to his "favoured" 4-2-3-1 set up. I don't mind playing that way if you play some decent football (as we did early on last season in particular) and you have a proper number 10 in there, it's such a key position. Edwards is obviously not suitable for reasons oft discussed and nor was it helpful having Benik picking the ball up ten yards inside his own half, he manifestly had no idea how to play that role. We'll have to see on Mason/Wallace.

Then again nor are we & don't get the impression he feels loved with us

I'm really annoyed with how Wolves are treating RVLP. He has genuine pace and a few tricks, yes his crossing isn't brilliant but that can be worked on.
He might be a bit of a sulker but that's where KJ needs to put an arm round him instead of trying to offload him at any opportunity.
RVLP is a better player than many on here believe, though he's probably not as good as he believes he is.

Without him we are a team worryingly devoid of pace.

I'm not. He had a stinking attitude and most of the time doesn't use his one real attribute, pace.

How are you so sure of his attitude? We don't know anything about it other than what Jackett tells us, and to be honest I don't trust his opinion of the players anymore. At all.

KJ has never mentioned his attitude.

He stated how he came back to pre season was unacceptable. Even when VLP was having a pop at the club when at Brighton KJ just said he can say what he likes, not a worry. The issue KJ has had with him is his work rate, which is why he banged that drum to big him up since his return to tbe 1st team.

Apparently Rhodes was asking for 80k per week at Boro, up from 50k at Blackburn. Bonkers.

Agree 100% Aik. Rajiv is clearly a fragile soul, he's not going to respond well to criticism or being harshly benched, he needs an arm round his shoulder and a run of games. Look at the difference in him after coming back from a loan spell where he was getting a lot of game time and praise for his positive performances.

KJ has never mentioned his attitude.

Not entirely true. Ken has praised his attitude quite often since he's returned from Brighton highlighting his 'desire to play and fight for his place at Wolves'.

Steve Gibson apparently pulled plug as total cost of the deal - fee and wages - over 4 years would have been £30m

It's almost like Jackett has borrowed Big Fat Sam's and Tony Pulis' black book of unknown footballers with a pliable* agents.

*this in no way infers that either Big Fat Sam or Tony Pulis have ever done anything untoward in the world of football.
