Winter Improvement Thread (aka Winter Squad Weakening Thread and TWF Suicide Watch)

Lambert would be Holt Mk II, no thanks. Not sure about Kike either for our system but the rumours about him are certainly persistent, and he fits the profile of the kind of striker we'd bring in.

I wouldn't want to be selling RVLP at all at the moment. We simply have too few fit wingers.

And the only one with any pace, unless Jackett has some sort of epiphany and plays Byrne. If we sign Kike we have another forward with no pace and convert ourselves from one of the fastest to the slowest team in the league. And I didn't think the recruitment could get any worse.

Kike would simply sum up our ambitions wouldn't he? Middlesbrough sign Pritchard and Rhodes: we take their cast-offs and pretend it was the plan all along.

IF there is anything in the Kike link you would have to wonder what the plan is offensively

Launch it and have Mason picking up the pieces.

Rather than launch it, watch ALF lose the header and then wonder where our midfield is and defend again.

Pritchard joining Burnley by the looks of it.

Not saying you are wrong, but I don't think that will work, much in the way Lambert wouldn't.

Whatever the plan is, it at least looks like we will have 2 forwards on the pitch.

I don't see what the big deal about having 2 strikers is. All formations can be attacking however you play them and whether we have had 2 strikers on in ALF and Afobe or 1 striker whoever that may have been we have still been shit. It's all about a change in style and mentality that will make the difference.

Our playing style, and window performance up to now, is nothing short of a clusterfuck!

Even those who know here on the forum, frankly, don't know!

I think Kike would be a really good signing, actually. For those suggesting it is a signal of our ambition/intentions.. well Boro only seemed prepared to let him go if an £11m signing comes off, bit of a reality check perhaps?

I was impressed with him last season and he scored in very important games against City in the cup and Brentford in the play-offs if my memory serves me right. I was very impressed with him in the latter too.

Ironically, he would be the player Joe Mason should have been imo, with perhaps a Kemar Roofe/Nakhi Wells type player alongside. Going into next season, a front two of Kike and Dicko is dare I say it, exciting.

Watch another club come in for him at the last min now!

Yeah, I'm not quite sure about that logic. Was Petr Cech a Chelsea cast off and therefore Arsenal shouldn't have bothered? Dean Sturridge was behind Trevor Benjamin in the pecking order at Leicester when we signed him. Dicko couldn't get a kick for Wigan, parked behind our good friend Grant Holt.

If he's good enough then I don't care where he comes from.

Imagine the sheer fury if Wolves went that far down the road of doing a high profile deal then cancelled it at the last minute.

Rhodes deal off, so presumably Kike won't be happening
Wage and bonus demands plus Blackburn adding a few new add ons after the original deal was agreed seem to have ended the signing.

Strange as Lambert himself has said he's happy for him to go and use the money on strengthening elsewhere
