People don't consider that though. A lot of people genuinely think he was scoring all those goals as a regular full-back. There are people out there who still think Ryan Sessegnon scored all those goals in the Championship playing as a left-back, too.

If your only exposure to Doherty is FPL and MOTD then he probably looks like Cafu. Wolves fans who watched him play over 300 times are just 'salty' if they dare to point out the slightest flaw in his game though.

The criticisms of Semedo by Barca 'fans' are hilarious as well. You can pick any thread on twitter or r/soccer and half the idiots hating on him will be saying that he's a good defender but can't attack, the other half saying that he's a good attacker but can't defend and each argument is getting liked/upvoted equally.

Got a link to any of that? I'm interested to know what they think as I have 2 mates who are Spurs fans and they think Doherty is amazing, but then again, most Irish people do - it's weird, he has done nothing internationally apart from 1 goal, but his exploits with Wolves in the last 2 seasons have given him a cult status.

I don't think it's a given.

Form is very patchy and his minutes will be pretty restricted there by comparison so could get the greatest hits or the bloopers. My bigger doubt though would be that majority of his form at Wolves was playing on the counter with lots of space to exploit, it's very rare Liverpool find themselves in that situation these days.

I don't think he'll flop but I think he may end up looking overpriced for how often he'll genuinely push for a starting place.
