Welcome to Wolves Matheus Cunha

Obviously, he's a bloke in his 50s.

But do we know what they were?

He should have been relieved of his duties at Wolves years ago and replaced with someone who had real experience of the role

The reason he hasn't been is because people at Fosun know even less than he does and anyone that dares to speak out against him gets sacked.

He's smart in a Boris Johnson/Trump kind of way.

But it is the case.

How much criticism did Saunders, Zenga, Lambert, Lage or O'Neil get from this mob before the trigger was pulled? Virtually none. But they were all objectively bloody awful.

There was even a piece in the E&S about a week before we went down in 2013 saying that Saunders had done about as well as anyone could expect him, or indeed anyone to. Which was clearly nonsense, he's one of the worst managers on the planet and we were about 40/1 to go down when he took over.

No particular fan of WM but at least they had the honesty to pretty much openly laugh at the idiot.
That's got nothing to do with my post though.

You don't get to be senior in KPMG without being very smart.
He finished his degree in 2000, no way he was particularly high up at KPMG at 23, in his first job - a management consultant (assuming that is what it means) isn't a particularly senior role anyway.

The bloke is a blagger and a bullshitter, his CV shows he jumps quite quickly, probably when he gets found out. He is lucky that he hasn't been "found out" at Wolves by anyone other than the fans and those that he gets rid of.

Thing is, he can’t not be fairly smart. As people have said, you don’t get really high up a company without having a certain level of intelligence in that line of work. You can only blag so much, and imagine there culture when it comes to business is a fairly unforgiving one.

Would agree he isn’t smart when it comes to footballing matters. Absolute Wally with some of the things he’s done. But that’s just in one field. Sadly, it’s the one we will judge him on Ofcourse because we are talking about Wolves, but to say he’s not clever in general isn’t correct

Look at the leaders and former leaders of the free world at the moment! You don't need to be smart to do well. Nepotism, luck, corruption there are dozens of ways people who lack ability can be successful.

I don't for one moment think Shi is anymore intelligent than the average person on here (and he certainly knows a lot less about football), he's been extremely fortunate to find himself in a bulletproof position at our club, everyone above him knows less. He can bullshit his way out of any situation. "Why are the crowds lower" "well our gate receipts are up, so it doesn't matter"

His business acumen can be questioned too, look at our corporate figures, they're dismal, crowds have dropped, he's become obsessed with eSports which generates the club fuck all, whilst flip flopping on the investment of the playing side numerous times - at serious detriment to the club.

His actions aren't those of a smart man.

He's a wank CEO for a football club, a liar, and a cunt who treats fans with contempt. I couldn't give a fuck if he's a genius, and his career prior to and following his stain on our club don't matter a fuck and aren't worth dissecting because at the end of the day no job will prepare you for running a football club. The spending and ROI rules that count for something in 95% of businesses don't work in football, especially when you're a salesman's fucking dream and get mugged into chucking money at fucking cunts because you don't understand the game

I don't think it takes a genius to conclude "If we sell our best player again this summer, the fans will criticise us. They hated Nunes when he left, let's see if we can get them to hate Cunha too. That way they won't blame us".

I also don't think that's particularly conspiratorial - Shi has got form for trying to deflect, and to manipulate the fanbase. For example, the performative spectacle of trying to get the PL to scrap VAR last year was a blatant smokescreen designed to get the fans onside immediately before the ticket price hikes.

Yeah that's fair. Particularly regarding VAR.

However Nunes brought all that on himself, as has Cunha.

It wasn't Shi who forced Cunha to take those glasses off the Ipswich dude, it wasn't Shi who flirted Cunha to clubs in January, it wasn't Shi who made Cunha react like a dick to Kerkez, or Shi who manages his social media when Cunha is answering back to Talking Wolves Dave.

This is the stuff Keen and Judah have talked about on the podcast, Keen admittedly has been a little more vociferous because he got his pride hurt from the Chelsea game, but i dont buy into this being a Shi created narrative, its a Cunha created narrative.

If the club were actively trying to create a negative narrative around Cunha he certainly wouldn't have been captain when Semedo went off on Saturday - I'm surprised so little has been said about that.

It's not mutually exclusive that Shi can be good in the corporate sense and that's why he's in the position he's in within the Fosun structure...and have absolutely no fucking clue about running a football. Which we have evidence of with him always running to Mendes/Agent or surrounding himself with sycophants.

Yeah, I don't buy the whole "the club is trying to make us hate Cunha" stuff. The blokes a bit of a bellend. He just happens to be a very good footballer too.

Surely the captaincy is a VP call and nothing to do with the club? While he gets results the club will be happy with him doing that and plenty of other things they’d rather have worked out differently: dropping Johnson, dropping Hwang, dropping Doyle, not picking their new centre back, not being happy with inadequate English players familiar to inadequate English coaches. The list goes on. He’s managing all that while keeping players on board and the disgruntled isolated. Top job.

You're saying there's some sort of conspiracy that Shi is telling Keen and Judah to create a negative Cunha narrative.

If they were doing that, Shi wouldn't want VP to have him as captain to completely contradict that would they?

My 2p worth.

I do think the club gave them info in January around the contract not being signed. As they probably feared a January bid and losing him, so a bit of protection work from them. Liam just went OTT on it at the time.

After that...the pair of them have just been dicks to get the clicks. Especially Nathan and his mask slipping post
