Welcome to Wolves Matheus Cunha

It does seem weird to me that the club apparently have first right of refusal on everything Keen and Judah do.
It's more that the e&s are completely reliant on the club for content, they could easily cut a lot of that off if they wanted. Filming at the training ground/ground, pre season access, player interviews. I'd imagine a high percentage of their online hits are Wolves related, they need them way more than the football club does them even moreso since they went to a subscription model. It wasn't always that way - was the biggest selling nightly newspaper in the country at one point, but it is now.

We now know the FFP line was bullshit - at least the way it was portrayed, yet those two put the line out and defended it slavishly. They were the only people other than Wolftone still defending GON in December, yet they continually put the boot in on the club's star player. I don't believe for a moment that's not green lit

I think Keen was upset at Cunha's reaction to the Chelsea episode and can't help but let that effect things.

Why on earth would the club tell Keen and Judah to speak negatively about Cunha?! How does that help Wolves.

Ockham's razor etc...

The club have been utilising client journalism for years, this is just the latest installment. Judah patting the club on the back for increasing ticket prices at one time etc. In exchange for their compliance they throw them the occasional bone like the recovery article on the journey back from Besiktas.

If you think that's indicative of how bright he is then it's not Shi's intelligence that should be questioned.
No need to be a dick, I also commented on the numerous mistakes he's made.

But of course publishing nonsensical AI crap like he has IS indicative of him, just like him thinking he knows more about football than everyone else in the game just a few years after watching his first game.

Or his obsession with Esports, not realising how much he has alienated the fan base, the signing of Silva, dumping Mendes because he thought he knew better, employing Zenga, making comments about us being better than City, thinking that Nuno should be sacked after the Europa QF, giving GON a 4 year deal, the list goes on and on.

Shi is NOT a clever man, certainly not when it comes to football, in my opinion there is no way he is playing 4D chess with Keen, Judah and the fanbase regarding Cunha.

There is far more evidence to suggest he's stupid rather than he is smart.

Jeff's career history tells you he's not a simpleton
What career?

He got parachuted into a role where he has no one around him who knows anything about what he does.

Anyone who has questioned him or seen as getting any credit he's fucked them off as soon as possible. Dalrymple, Thelwell, Nuno, Coady, Saiss, Ruddy...

He may be a narcissist, and manipulative, that doesn't mean he's smart.

It's as if you've all forgotten the idiotic things he's done over the last few years!?

The Besiktas article was years and years ago. The ticket prices was last season!?

I really think this flat earth and chemtrails levels.

I thought we were having a decent conversation, but clearly you are incapable.

I have a different view to you so you call me stupid? And now this?

I write a response in disagreement with you, and with the reasons why, you however just make snide remarks?

Nathan Rioja in particular defends the indefensible time after time, now he might genuinely be that naive but it's not a great reach to join the dots.

I wish the local media did hold the club to account but equally I know it isn't 1994 any more.

You don't listen to the podcasts?

I can read, amazingly.

Surprising for a lad from New Invention I know.

He puts his drivel up on Twitter, I don't think he's ever really written articles.

'You have to hand it to Jeff Shi'. Fuck off cocknose, get back to watching Lee Cattermole and Phil Stamp.

I don't agree with them on all things, obviously but I think they are mostly genuine.

I think Keen had his nose put out by Cunha reacting directly to him, and since then has stuck the knife in on Cunha, and there has been plenty to go out.

I do buy into the E and S putting a positive spin on some Wolves related stories, but I don't see how the club telling them to be critical of their best player, an asset, is logical - in fact it contradicts the client journalism line.

But it is the case.

How much criticism did Saunders, Zenga, Lambert, Lage or O'Neil get from this mob before the trigger was pulled? Virtually none. But they were all objectively bloody awful.

There was even a piece in the E&S about a week before we went down in 2013 saying that Saunders had done about as well as anyone could expect him, or indeed anyone to. Which was clearly nonsense, he's one of the worst managers on the planet and we were about 40/1 to go down when he took over.

No particular fan of WM but at least they had the honesty to pretty much openly laugh at the idiot.

He had roles before the wolves job

Like others have said, you don’t get into the kind of position he’s in at an organisation the size of Fosun by being the school dunce. He’s clearly a clever bloke.

He’s also a complete & utter arsehole of a man (a lot of senior businessmen are!). It’s taken him far too long to swallow his pride on the football front - because as good as he in business, he’s the flip side when it comes to football knowledge and there’s a long list of poor decisions to back that up.

It does sound like we’re leaning more on Jorge again & following his guidance, along with Vítor’s input, when it comes to playing staff at least. That gives me some confidence when it comes to recruitment, but that all depends on whether Shi can keep his ego in check or not. I guess time will tell, but hopefully the brush with relegation this season has finally made him learn a lesson.

Obviously, he's a bloke in his 50s.

But do we know what they were?

He should have been relieved of his duties at Wolves years ago and replaced with someone who had real experience of the role

The reason he hasn't been is because people at Fosun know even less than he does and anyone that dares to speak out against him gets sacked.

He's smart in a Boris Johnson/Trump kind of way.
