Is 25 young?
Having a coaching licenses isn't a guarantee of ability. Why? I mean, he's obviously got his coaching licences etc, so he must have some understanding of the game. And it's clear when you hear him speak that he's not a gibbering moron, so I don't understand this assumption.

It's not an assumption, it's based on the evidence in front of us, which is how his Bournemouth side played. It's the literal opposite of an assumption
I get that. However, that's a big leap to say he can't coach attacking play. We will see I suppose, but he certainly doesn't come over as stupid and incompetent.Having a coaching licenses isn't a guarantee of ability.
Plenty of ex-pros with coaching licenses who aren't anywhere near as good as non ex-pros
The system is corrupt.
There's also plenty of coaches who aren't good enough to be at PL level and plenty who shouldn't be anywhere near a managerial role.
Okay. I guess we shall see. It's not an assumption, it's based on the evidence in front of us, which is how his Bournemouth side played. It's the literal opposite of an assumption
Or you could just wait and see? What benefit is there in assuming it'll be wank until proven wrong? When your club makes a cheap punt on a manager or player it's surely wise to just assume they'll be mediocre at best and wait for actual evidence before making any greater claims?
Or just don't assume anything and let it play out. Expecting poor just makes it easier to have a go for the smallest thing. When your club makes a cheap punt on a manager or player it's surely wise to just assume they'll be mediocre at best and wait for actual evidence before making any greater claims?
People are telling you not to assume anything, neutrality is an option.Where did I say poor or 'wank'?
I said mediocre.
I expected Lop to eventually get Nunoesque results and status with us. Why would I expect that from a novice manager clearly brought in mainly to be a less dominant and more pliable club figure than his predecessor?
We're talking about successfully managing in the PL, it's literally pretty much the peak of the profession, and by definition an elite job.
Why would I assume someone like GON will come in and kill it? It's more likely he'll be OK at best, isn't it?
People are telling you not to assume anything, neutrality is an option.
Well at least mediocre is a small step closer to neutrality than your opening stance. An option you and Kenny haven't chosen, otherwise you'd also be lecturing Dire Wolf?
I'd say at this stage assuming GON is mediocre at best is perfectly reasonable, and anyone making greater claims should provide greater evidence/thinking
I haven't chosen...I just said we should but know its basically impossibleAn option you and Kenny haven't chosen, otherwise you'd also be lecturing Dire Wolf?

Just seems like you're making yourself miserable with the negative tilt to your judgement, what's so great about that? What's so great about being the football fan equivalent of Switzerland anyway?
Why would I be neutral about the team I support? I have expectations and can explain why. Nothing wrong with that.
So you're sitting there happy as Larry typing negative thoughts? Seems odd.I'm probably one of the least miserable people you'd ever meet.
People shouldn't mistake forum opinions for real life
