I've never had a problem with their service, even when in larger groups, but I'm guessing Penn Road would be your local and I always tended to avoid that one like the plague as the parking arrangement is appalling.

The Hogs in town was really good for burgers a year or so ago but they've moved away from that now and gone with pizzas, which is all well and good but I don't like to order pizza when I'm out. If supermarkets sell incredibly good pizzas for a fiver and it'll take me ten minutes to cook in the oven...then there's no way I'm going to spend treble that (or more) in a pub/restaurant.

Aldi's ham and mascarpone offering is amazing.

Penn Road M&C is shite. The one in the Mail Box is a good one though

Sutton Park was always my first choice, fairly easy to get to, plenty of parking and more often than not got a good table in the window overlooking the lake.

My local one up here is pretty good, bit of a faff to get to but the location itself is pretty good and food has always met expectations.

I was just about to mention Hogs, they don't do many burgers now but their Classic Beefburger is lovely with sweet potato fries and a side of onion rings

Yeah, it's a real shame. They had 4-5 on the menu not long ago and they were all good.

Still, it's a nice pub though and I get on well with a couple of the guys behind the bar. It's not a matchday place though, the layout doesn't lend itself to it.

I'm hooked on Asda pizzas now. They'll let you build your own with 4 toppings for about £5 for a large, which is huge as well, about 12-13 inches. I had to cut it into 4 pieces and freeze the rest! Only £3 odd for a smaller version. They're bloody lovely too and they do it right in front of you.

Ham, mushroom, extra cheese, peppers. Sorted.


While I was in London for the NFL we ordered one from Bella Pizza, which I guess is their takeaway version of Bella Italia. That was bloody lovely too. Best takeaway pizza I've had in yonks. And their chicken wings are fabulous too and huge.

It's just fucking stupid in a culinary sense. How the fuck do you get the gravy where it needs to be? How do you avoid a soaking when that Yorkshire softens on the bottom and you try and cut it or move it?

I'd say something like that would almost certainly have it's presentation described on the menu, I doubt you just go in ordering a Sunday Roast and it turns up like that out of the blue.
