Vitor sacked

I think this will backfire on Shi, if Edwards is liked by the fans then the blame will only go higher up if (when?) we fail

After the sacking of Vitor I was 99% sure we were going down anyway, with Edwards in charge I dont have much faith he can bring us back up (hoping Im wrong obviously) I'm expecting years in Championship mid table mediocrity.😟

The positives I can see is that he doesn't appear to be a twat and more importantly appears to care about the club. He doesn't come across as a mercenary, only here for a quick payday. Let's be honest, a lot of choices could have been just that.

I don't believe there's any such thing as an 'ideal appointment' at the moment. Realistically, no-one is going to keep us up, and no-one of any decent reputation and ability will take the job as we're in such a mess.

So whilst it's far from a brilliant appointment (IF it happens - there's still time for him to turn us down), it really could have been a fuckload worse.

Does it make me slightly more positive about Wolves? No, not really because I think there is a LOT of work to do before I can start feeling happy about Wolves. I don't feel any better about our survival hopes - I think we're absolutely fucked this season, time will tell if Edwards can bring some positivity next season (or if he'll even get the chance).

TL;DR - it could have been worse, but I'm still grumpy.

Where did I say that Edwards will be a great Manager ? I didn't .

Who said you did? You said 'the great Managers had to begin somewhere' though, which is nothing to do with Edwards or why we're employing him

You took me up all wrong . The fact that an average player cannot become a very good Manager is simply not true - that's the point I'm making . I did not day that Edwards will become a great Manager .

And yes , all the great Managers did have simple beginnings and it went from there - how to find that person ? I have no idea .

Listen - everyone's angry and rightly so . Let's not fall out among ourselves .

Well the “let’s go for Gary O’Neill and after that the fans will be happy with anyone” card proved to be a Top Trump. Reality is Edwards is probably about as good as we can hope for. Maybe we’ll get Robbie Keane this time next year - if he isn’t out of our league by then.

I've edited my post above as it was unfair of me to say you were 'spouting shite' so apologies for that.

I did think it was off the mark to be even suggesting that Edwards could have anything but a pretty mediocre trajectory though. Would be great if he proved that wrong, but it'd be against available evidence so far.

I don't think people are making judgements based on his playing career, it's more his typical middling British manager career that's being looked at

Rumours that Lescott will be part of the staff, which is nice at least. No idea if he's any good as a coach.

Fuck it, bring Bully back as striker coach and Murray back for Gk coach. All onboard the nostalgia express, one direction only.
The problem is the person driving it!

Sky have stopped taking bets on next manager. Reckon it’s as good as done.

You could appoint Klopp and we wouldn't stay up.

So it's a guy with a bit of an affinity for the club, who doesn't play horrific football, probably fancies a decent run at it (is he going to manage a bigger club than Wolves any time soon, probably not), isn't a dick and has plenty to prove.

I'm hardly turning cartwheels but we could have done worse.

His issue is going to be if he starts with 6/7/8 straight defeats, which let's face it, could happen. We're rubbish.

Weird that there hasn't been another update today. Is he just not going to show up for their game tomorrow?

Knowing us he missed the presser because he had nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhea...

Would be a ground for suspension due to a breach of contract, pending investigation on a gross misconduct which could involve a long process.

Depends on how boro want to be over the situation if they don't have an agreement with Forum Favourite Jeff Shi.
