This is kind of my point, why have a defensive alliance when the will really isn't there to properly enforce it.

Russia since the Soviet Union collapsed has posed zero threat to us militarily, apart from their nuclear weapons, they hardly even have a navy. The idea we need NATO that far East as some kind of bulwark against a potential Russian invasion just isn't right and creates more problems than it solves.

We'll have to agree to disagree because I think they would enforce it.
 
Western Europe has imposed withering sanctions against Russia, banning them from the Eurovision Song Contest. If they want to seriously end this conflict all they now need to do is stop the Russians uploading to PornHub.
 
Anyone really know what's going on there? Found something which said Ukraine are going to arm civilians which sounds pretty crazy

I’d guess it’s reservists, all men aged 18-62 have been banned from leaving the country and told to take up arms
 
The BBC are reporting that 18000 guns have been given to 'volunteers', and that citizens have been urged to make petrol bombs.

That article is long in speculation and rather short in fact.

I also should point out that the symptoms of hubris syndrome they appear to be linking to Putin perfectly fit Boris Johnson.

It’s only short haul that are being cancelled. Could well be a cyber attack on their booking system but no way of knowing just yet.

only thinking this last night when they talked of Putin feeling rules don’t apply to him.
 
As resilient as the Ukrainians are, I expect Russia to achieve its aims due to sheer weight of numbers.
However, Afghanistan will seem like a bad day at the office if they try to occupy Ukraine.
On another point Putin's eyes bother me a lot, tiny as they are they still seem to have a strange glaze over them.
