Trump

NY Daily News reported on 03.03.2016;

National security experts are the latest group to come out against Donald Trump's presidential bid.

More than 70 conservative figures with extensive national security experience, including former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, signed a letter released early Thursday, in which they railed against the Republican front-runner's credentials to be the commander-in-chief.

Don't get me wrong, Trump is a $#@!, but to say he is the biggest threat to world security is laughable.
I'm not so sure. Who else in the world right now would so openly flaunt the risk of outright nuclear war? We can talk all we want about ISIS and terrorism, but for the most part their acts take place on a small scale. Trump, on the other hand, would be a legitimate threat to overall global security. Not just guerilla warfare and suicide tactics, but outright military operations.

Obama has allowed Putin to do what he likes in Ukraine and in Syria. To say Trump is the biggest threat to world security is nonsense. Please tell me how you come to that conclusion.

So you think the way ahead is to go head to head with Russia risking s hell of a lot, tell me how would you have dealt with the invasion of the Crimea or Eastern Ukraine by rebels?
Whether you like it or not Russia is a major player in world affairs and needs to be dealt with some respect.
Do you think making radical statements like banning Muslims from America is good for security when infact it just adds fuel to the fire of any radical and simply improves there recruitment.

Alan, you are nice bloke, but you are talking bollocks. I mean that in a nice way.

The difference between a car bomb and a nuclear warhead is not a small one.

Do you think Russia would do what it's doing If George Bush was in power?

So hyperthetical situation when tensions were high between the US and Russia similar to that of the Cuban missile crisis would you trust Trump to avert disaster diplomatically?

You didn't answer my question.

Is that the same Chertoff who was caught with illegal immigrants, working as cleaners in his house?

Ergh yes, and people in the west have to get this myth out there head that only Russia would start a nuclear war.
Regardless of what Putin does the world isn't safer with so called gung ho leader.
America and Britain are no position to moralise at times about invasions considering what happened in 2003.

The company that cleaned Chertoff's 'digs' were found to have employed illegal immigrants.

That's a non sequitur of pretty extreme proportions. Russia's actions relative to Bush would have to be partially reliant on their knowledge of Bush's past foreign policy (just as your statement is). But as he cannot both have been president during Sept 11th and the Iraq/Afghanistan "Wars" and during the "annexation" of Crimea, and therefore the same information regarding his foreign policy would not exist, it's rather pointless to pursue that dialogue.

No Alan, it means you have a President, who is seen as weak and Russia have taken the piss.

And if the cost of appearing strong is by sacrificing American, British, NATO, et al. lives on some wild goose chase, that's okay?

This without even getting into the specifics of the Ukraine and Syria situations, which are far more complicated than just "Russia is taking the piss because they can now". Don't forget that the people of Crimea voted to join Russia.

Struggling to believe what I have just read on this thread.

Good Lord. OF COURSE president Trump would be the biggest global security risk. He would have his hand on the trigger of the biggest nuclear arsenal of all and by the look of it would view number of nukes like a willy-waving contest.

I look at his rallies. I look at protesters being punched and forcibly ejected before Trump stands up and offers to pay his supporters legal fees if they get arrested, and I can't be the only one reminded of a certain demented Austrian garnering support in Munich Beer halls.

Thought the very same thing, very scarey

I was thinking the same yesterday, no doubt the apologists for Hitlers behaviour in the 1930s were reminding everyone about freedom of speech.
