Trump

'Lorn' it's an area of short dense grass, like on your back lawn.
Is there a stereotype that Americans don't have them??

No idea where the 'w' => 'r' thing comes from, although it did produce the extremely quotable "I SORE IT" line in the first Harry Potter (I know, I know) film.

It'll be summat to do with Latin....or Greek....or German.....or French, maybe even Welsh. Probably best not to look too hard into our spellings and pronunciation.

I’m extremely pleased with what I’ve accidentally managed to do to this thread in such a short space of time. I should make it clear I like bowls, lorns / laaaawns, Americans and trousers. I don’t like Trump though, he’s a twat.

He’ll use the Wayne Hennessy excuse of he was just waving to a friend in the crowd, thats going to be unbelievable though tbh, I mean musk having friends, come on.

Most spellings come from norman french, hence the u in armour. Spanish is the closest modern language to latin.

As for Greek, well don't expect any linguistic symmetry as it was a three case language and English has none of those rules. Mad language we picked up as babies.

Anything starting mega is greek. or poly. all your phobias are greek as phobos is fear. Dont like the sea? Thallassaphobic, two greek words as thallassa is sea in ancient greek.

Gynophobia - scared of the fairer sex as gynos is woman in ancient greek. from that comes gynaecology. Andros is the male version.

I have little else to offer bar my studies of Aristophanes in the original language taught me that perdomai is the verb for i fart
