Trump

Trickle down economics is morally corrupt. Throws the working class on the bonfire for a couple of years and you might benefit if you haven't lost everything at the end of it. Also pretty much guarantees a cycle of boom and bust. Reagan and Thatcher both used this to get inflation under control, but's morally bankrupt and ultimately in the case of the former cost Bush his Presidency.

From the snapshots we get of Biden, he is wholly unimpressive. Just like last time the Democratic nominee gives Trump a fighter's chance when he should have none. Hopefully the choice of Harris will get him over the line

The one last night? I thought he was stiff, emotionless, lacking in charisma and although most politicians read off the autocue, having it off centre from the camera made it look disingenuous. Harris and Obama were both considerably more impressive on the previous evenings imo

I'm also not a fan of them hiding him away. I appreciate the Covid situation but it feels very...Johnson. His to lose so don't let him fuck it up

Mainstream media, which is becoming more overtly pro-democrat, seems to think Biden did well. They are also pointing out that Biden is not running on specific policies but is pitching the whole election as good vs evil. Republicans get their turn next week, and of course trump is in a position to control the narrative for the next 3 months, but the election is 100% Biden's to lose.

trump and Pompeo desperately trying to bring down the Iran deal and reimpose sanctions. Will be interesting to see how strongly Europe stands up to him.

I agree with that. I've said all along that if he can continue to make people feel oppressed and that the socialist wokes are coming to get them he'll get back in. Biden will win Wisconsin, so that's one State back, the other 4/5 key battlegrounds like Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida are still to play for. I've said before I think Biden is weak and although politically I understand it, I hate the hide away your guy because the other is a dickhead strategy. Vote for me because I'm not Trump is dangerous

I thought Biden came across very well at the DNC and he isn't hiding any more. It also helps that he has a vibrant running mate so, hopefully, Trump is on his way out

I just don't get why they have so many really old people who keep running for top office. They're ancient. Stop doing this.

Biden is ok and I expect him to win, I don't think it'll be particularly close. Trump has his base much as Farage has his in the UK. When they only have that then they win absolutely fuck all.

Trump is too far behind in the polls. Apparently no president has ever won from being that far behind.

I think the way their voting is counted stinks though, and is just open to abuse if he wins the right states.

For two of the oldest "modern" democracies, both the US and the UK systems are absolutely awful.

I effectively don't have a vote for as long as I live here, and I don't want to move house just so I have a say.

Polls can lie, there is a theory that voters will not admit that they intend to vote for trump.

I voted in every possible election when I lived in the UK, but since South Staffs was safely Tory I haven't bothered with a postal vote since moving here. First past the post is not democracy.

As an aside, I accompanied my wife once when she went to vote over here. Voting took place in a side room of the local Catholic church. The 10 Commandments were scrawled in huge letters on the wall next to the voting booth. How on earth can that be permissible in the 21st century? And so much for the supposed separation of church and state.

Of course polls can be wrong. But this is a silly margin.

I don't think he has a prayer.

He got 46% of the popular vote in 2016 and squeaked through because the Electoral College is a mess.

Clinton (92) and Nixon (68) somehow got through with 43%. Surprising on Clinton, thought he was more popular than that against an incumbent Bush Sr.

You're going back to 1912 for someone with Donny's current polling to win. It was Woodrow Wilson which didn't end up all that well.

Biden isn't as monumentally unpopular as Kill Hill though.

And Trump can't do his Nürnberg rallies either.

I still think Biden will win, I just don't think it's done and dusted. I'll also be interested in whether Trump's version of the Shy Tory which Dennison mentioned proves to exist or not.
