Torino 2 - 3 Wolves (A Thread Title I thought I'd Never Use): The Verdict

Think if Traore stayed on, Torino would have struggled to finish with 11 on the field

Adama came off because he twisted something in the tackle leading up to there first.

They ain't beating us by two at Molineux and they're not keeping a clean sheet either. Good team but we're just better.

Such a shame Traore's one mistake got punished. Probably Vinagre's worst game for us and Jota wasn't great until he scored.

But other than that...we were superb. Saiss MOTM for me but so many immense performances out there. Officials - reminded me of the old adage that to draw a boxing match in Italy, you had to knock the other geezer out. Criminal display. The assault on Neto was appalling.

What a team, what a time to be a Wolves fan. Embrace it.

Oh and just got off the phone to a very happy Kenny. Fair to say he had a good time! Crowd control getting in was a disaster though he says. Crushes narrowly averted after ridiculous extra security checks (showing passports despite having to show your passport to get the ticket in the first place, causing huge bottlenecks)

Only slight disappointment was the penalty at the end, but my god that is outweighed by the result and its importance.

The team I first watched live at a ground that had only 2 serviceable sides and 1 of them was 50 yards from the pitch has just beaten a very good team from Italy in a European competition, in Italy.

These really are the days, and I know it's easy to hark back to times of hardship with Wolves, let's face it theres enough to choose from, but I just cant stop thinking this really is my/out team and we are amazing

Anyone have a vid/gif of Boly's crunching tackle?

Adama Traore is a different player with all the same attributes. Nuno converted Coady to whatever his role is within hours of taking charge, it’s taken a bit longer with Adama. At times he was unplayable although I couldn’t understand why Torino continually allowed themselves to be isolated against him. One thing that showed last night was that he looked up before crossing, shame there wasn’t always enough options in the penalty area.

Being slightly disappointed at the end of an away match in European competition against Italian opposition takes some getting used to. This result was with (allegedly) 4 of our first team players not in the starting 11.

I found last night completely surreal. I can't believe this is happening to us. :icon_lol:

I had heard of this from some benfica fans that have traveled all over Europe. Italy's law is very heavy handed, forcing complete identity checks before entering the stadium. No other country really enforces this rule, most of the time they only care about you having a valid ticket.

Enjoyed that. Thought we played well in patches but didn't take care of the ball enough as a whole. That's nitpicking though as it's a great result against a more than useful side.

Raul was outstanding all game as was Coady. He played like a true Italian Libero and stepped forward well when needed. I was impressed with Jesus too, thought his passing into midfield was superb.

A little aside I am impressed at just how tough Coady has become. He was strong in the challenge with an international centre forward and gave him a right hard game, getting tight , not allowing him space. Another example of the coaching that has obviously gone on.

I am with you all on this. Enjoy the ride.

I thought Traore had another good game and his assist for Jota's goal was superb.

He was injured just before he was subbed. Anyone know anymore?

It's a shame because if anyone should have been subbed it was Vinagre who had a poor game, esp. defensively.

A fantastic result away from home, next Thursday should be good.

Such a great game last night. Slightly disappointed that we let them back in to the tie at the end but I'd have snapped your hand off if offered a 3-2 win beforehand so can't grumble!

Moutinho was brilliant for the first goal. Won the free kick superbly then put a wonderful ball in.

Fantastic play by Traore for the 2nd. He had the odd wayward cross but on the whole I thought he was really impressive again. They couldn't cope with him at all. Really hope he isn't injured.

Excellent 3rd goal by Raul. Great advantage by the ref which he made the most of (along with some poor defending by Torino!)

It is set up for a cracking 2nd leg on Thursday now and I've just secured my ticket for it :)

Away goals rule applies doesn't it? None of this Torino winning 1-0 and it goes to penalties bollocks?

Watching the highlights it's a shame Traore got caught for the first goal, he'd read the throughball and intercepted it really well. I think last season he stays static and it gets through. It shows there's still work to do but he's already taking things on.

He didn't need to, that was the issue there. Vallejo was perfectly in line to just boot it away but he let Traore take it and dribble himself into trouble. Other than that Traore did have a very good game.

It was a great game of football for the neutral, however a bit nerve wracking for a Wolves fan. Enjoyed it though. You really do have to pinch yourself seeing our team winning away against a Seria A side in a European competition!!! How far have we come in 3 years!!

Traore was fantastic, only blot on his copybook was hesitating on the ball for the goal. I think Vinagre was probably anticipating the break so got caught the wrong side, which is a little naive.

Overall though, a fantastic performance, I think Boly or Saiss were man of the match for me, however Traore was close. Definitely can't see them keeping a clean sheet next week and I can't see us conceding 3.

Tim Spiers tweeting that we're on the front page of the Gazetta as well, what a time to be alive!!

Two excellent performances in a row for Adama. Long may it continue.

It was only about 2 weeks ago I wanted him sold as said he was a waste of a squad space. I can't believe I have to spend the day trawling about the forum and twitter, deleting and altering all my previous takes on him!

Seriously impressed with his assist, it's was everything I thought he was incapable of. Always said his pace was wasted as he spent far too long standing still and lining his marker up, however his overall quickness in terms of getting the ball under control and getting on the move has really improved, and this is what I feel has made him so dangerous.
