There goes Julen!

Julen Lopetegui’s assistant will be Edu Rubio. Rubio is based in England and had various coaching jobs. It’s also reported that Fran Garagarza will join Wolves. Potentially in a sporting/technical director role. Via

Edu Rubio is an interesting one. Think he was MK Dons 18s coach a few years ago, now working with West Ham Women

Garagarza was Sporting Director at Eibar for just under a decade.

Former Eibar sporting director Fran Garagarza will be part of Julen Lopetegui's staff at Wolves - but he won't become sporting director. Edu Rubio (currently West Ham women assistant) will be a first team coach at Wolves under Lopetegui. #wwfc

Julen Lopetegui's backroom staff is taking shape: - Pablo Sanz as assistant - Juan Vicente Peinado and Edu Rubio as first team coaches - Fran Garagarza as part of team, but NOT sporting director - They'll also be two fitness coaches coming in #wwfc

Jeffs going to have to up his game now with the spending, and hopefully gets told a few home truths on how bad the non playing side is at board level

I might be in a minority, but wouldn't care if we only got 2 players in on loan in Jan (at least one striker) and then got the best out of the rest of the squad.

These players are far too good to be in the position they find themselves.

We need a minimum of three. Right back (as the two we have at the moment are in awful form), centre half (as the two we have at the moment are in awful form, and we don't have an alternative) and striker (as we have none, bar a pantomime act). I'd want another winger too as any combination of Adama/Podence/Guedes/Hwang isn't producing much, and we can't count on Neto right now.

Double edged sword with Nunes, there's a fair argument to say we haven't used him properly but equally he's just been Corica levels of anonymous.

I think some of them are at rock bottom confidence wise. That could take a while to turn round. As long as Lop wants them the more the merrier as I’m not sure the lines of Jonny, Semedo, Moutinho and Hwang are going to suddenly start playing like mid-table PL players.

Wouldn't write off either Jonny or Semedo personally (I think both should be capable of better things and improved morale might be the medicine) but agree otherwise. And we need a legitimate third choice CB option, even if it's an old-timer like a Dawson brought in on a short contract to be the wise head when things get tough.

Key thing though is the dire need to accept that we're stacked with duds in attack. Club's never going to write Guedes off this soon (and he and Nunes have both looked miserable since joining, there's every chance a real manager might finally get them playing like they should), but Hwang isn't good enough, Traore's gone in six months (not that he delivers much either), Podence is all shirt and no trousers, and Neto... well, we have to hope that he can eventually come back to his old level, but we can't put our eggs in any one player's basket. Sack off at least two of Hwang/Traore/Podence, get the rebuild in attack going now instead of in the Championship.

I think Jonny is done personally. Sad to see it as he never relied on pace before but 1v1 he's really struggling these days and he doesn't even seem to have that core strength he used to which would allow him to stay on the ball.

I like Semedo (has been rubbish recently though) but with him I think it will depend what JL wants from his full backs in possession.

Each player is different, but when I watch Kilman I can see he's struggling and his confidence is shot. I don't see that with Jonny and Semedo, it's something else imo. Might be attitude, might just be bad form, might be the injuries.

I still say we are expecting too much of our full backs in a 4, but that's not an excuse for some of the errors

No imminent decision on Tony Roberts' future. He will work with Lop and the other staff over the next few weeks initially. Highly regarded and well liked amongst the players
