The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

Pre-ordered it weeks and weeks ago. Looking forward to it arriving now.

and then playing on it for 5 minutes, getting annoyed and then Robin taking over and finishing before you have cooked tea?

Nah - this looks like it might be Skyrim MAX. I may be gone for some months!

Apparently it's supposed to be fairly easy in terms of combat etc so you might be okay! Are you getting a BIG book for this one?

I think (I would have to check my Amazon account to be sure) I have just ordered a standard edition. Might have to go for the big book again. The Skyrim and Destiny ones were things of beauty, as well as a massive cheats charter for cunts like me. If not, there will be an IGN walkthrough available within days anyway.

I think the map for this is supposed to be 30% bigger than Skyrim. That's pretty bloody big. And the rumoured DLC is due to be proper DLC - not some half arsed side missions stuck on the end of the game - and it'll expand the map even further.

I think this game will be a good thing for my wallet after the initial outlay - staying in and playing on it will save me a fortune when I'm normally out enjoying a few pints!

I must admit I am really looking forward to getting into the game. The thing looks gorgeous and I am delighted to hear that the "too fucking hard" complaint against earlier Witcher titles has apparently been softened to a degree.

Just pre-ordered. Now I have to work out if I've got enough external hard drive space to move some game data over as I bet it's an absolute bastard to install!! > 50GB you'd have thought.....

Watch_Dogs was about 40GB I think. Destiny and Titanfall were massive as well, and Far Cry 4 is hardly tiny. You should get the external hard drive I got - something like 2TB still to play with for me.

I've got one that I use to play films on my XB1. I think it's a 500GB HDD which is only about half full so loads of room to move some across. No doubt I'll get a larger HDD once my collection grows.

bit of a shot in the dark here, but any of you into tabletop gaming? trying to find some non-electronic stuff to play with people. was looking for some 2 player, 3 player, and party style options. I've got like 15 games in my cart right now, need to narrow it down. :icon_lol:

Anyone else seen the Rock Band 4 or Guitar Hero Live's promo video's?

It does look like its time to buy a whole set of plastic controllers... again.

If they can figure out how to make a drum pedal that doesn't snap in half after five songs then they'll probably get my money. But I'll wait for reviews.

Got The Witcher 3 yesterday and it's bloody impressive. As a Skyrim nerd, I can see myself spending hours and hours on this. First impressions:

Visually STUNNING. I could happily just wander around looking at the scenery!
Very strong voice acting, particularly the weird and wonderful characters you meet in the side quests
Looks like there are a lot of fighting styles to master, meaning you could choose to focus on magic as opposed to weapons etc.
It's vast. And the landscapes appeared varied even when you stay in a single area - I checked the map after I finished playing with it and even the time of day and the weather patterns make a difference to the atmosphere. Can't wait to explore other areas to see just how much variety there is in the landscapes.

I only played the first mission - up to and including slaying my first griffin and I'm mega impressed with it. They seem to have used elements from plenty of games I really like (Batman: Arkham series for the 'tracking' using your Witcher skills - also reminded me a bit of LA Noir - Assassins Creed for basic attacking and platforming, Red Dead Redemption for riding around on horseback and of course Elder Scrolls for the basic setting) and amalgamated them into a really fun experience.

Negatives: Geralt's voice is already grating on me. And my telly is too small to cleary read the text in the menus (of which there are a LOT) so I end up straining my eyes to read them. I'd love a nice 40" screen to play this on!

I'm getting this later hopefully, really looking forward to playing it.

That was a good read, thanks Langers. Will definitely help me with the story I think.

What games did you select? Might be able to help.

I ended up ordering blueprints, pixel tactics, sushi go, summoner wars, king of tokyo, timeline: inventions, coup, x-men dice masters, pandemic, and ticket to ride. Also ordered a bunch of deck supplies and PTCG booster/singles, can't wait to get home and dig in!
