The TWF Horse Racing Thread

At Fishers Cross for the Albert Bartlett is the only one that's really caught my attention this year. Around 5/1 at the moment. Not as exciting a propsect as Brindisi Breeze was last year though.

I'll mention Alderwood in The Grand Annual at 10/1. Won at the festival last year, amazing how they come back and do well year after year! He will have the services of AP, should go well.

I love Flemenstar, he must go for the Queen Mother Champion Chase. The stock of his sire Flemensfirth often prefer better ground. What a race that should be, Sprinter Sacre, Flemenstar and Sizing Europe!

If i owned Flemenstar i would go the Ryanair route, as i'm not sure he will stay the Gold Cup trip and i don't see anything getting close to Sprinter Sacre in the QM.

With the prices as they are i'm quite interested in Dodging Bullets in the Supreme Novices, i backed him last year at 20/1 in the Triumph and at one point i thought he was going to win and so this year with a bit more experience i think he will be right there although Jezki looks like quality opposition. Other than that i hope Solwhit recovers enough to go for the World Hurdle as i think he's probably the most talented horse left in with Big Bucks not being there.

If all goes to plan, Silviniaco Conti and one of Flemenstar/Sir Des Champs will win tomorrow and their odds for the Gold Cup will shorten, so tonight would be a good time to get on one of them if they take your fancy.

30 years ago today Shergar was kidnapped (or horsenapped) by the IRA.

Soon after when they could nt control him, he began his journey to the great burger van in the sky

For the time being as far as The Gold Cup is concerned use SkyBet, BetFred, Totesport or Boylesports they're all NRNB.

My Tent Or Yours. Wow.

Wow indeed.

Silviniaco Conti didn't give much of a clue today, won fairly easily without being on top form. Flemenstar didn't impress, commentators suggesting he may not travel for the festival at all.

Just having a quick squint through the National field/weights. Ruby will have the choice of one out of 6 out of the top seven in the betting! It will be fascinating to see which one he chooses and to watch the scramble for the other 4 after Katie gets either Seabass or Colbert Station. McCoy I think will ride Teaforthree. Who do you think Walsh will go for?

I should imagine Ruby will ride either On His Own who he was down to ride last year or Tidal Bay now Nicholls has said he will be going for the national, I'm pretty sure Katie will ride Seabass but i'm not sure who AP will ride, he generally rides Teaforthree but JP has Sunnyhillboy in the race and may want him to ride that.

Don't forget JP also has Colbert Station trained by Ruby and Katies Dad. The plot thickens! I'm sure AP will have the choice, can't see him picking Sunnyhillboy with his hike in the weights. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Yes you're right hadn't seen that so maybe JP will ask him to ride Colbert Station, definitely going to be a tough choice for both Ruby and AP if they get to choose. If i was Ruby i'd choose On His Own even though i love Tidal Bay and if AP gets the choice i'd get on Teaforthree.

Tidal Bay out of the Grand National, and I wonder whether we'll see him again. Great shame.

I think this may be a blessing in disguise. Not sure he ever liked the national and he's older now. He deserves a long and happy retirement.

He certainly didn't seem to enjoy it last time, but it would be a shame if he was retired after his fine resurgence. Nicholls isn't having much luck with his big guns this season.

Winning the Lexus the way he did would be a great way to bow out. Can't see him topping that at his age.

Rocky Creek will go to the RSA. Finally something to oppose Dynaste with and I'm tempted to take the 10/1 on offer now before he runs tomorrow.

Really like Cue Card. Job made a lot easier thanks to Captain Chris' mistake, but did it well in the end.

Finians Rainbow nowhere again.
