Probably not - my thinking was just - wijnaldum is off in six months, and they’re decently stocked there, we need a cm and have been tenuously linked. They are desperate for a centre back, Coady would love to go back, and would be better than the Preston centre back, and they’ve been equally tenuously linked.

would have been good, but I appreciate we’d be getting the better end of the deal.

Good business from Everton and WBA. Josh King for 5m is a steal.

It's £5m for 3 months though. Then he's on a free, he may stay on a bumper contract after that, he may not
Yes , that could be true. Everton do have 19 games to go and he backs up Calvert-Lewin well on paper. If they make Europe or win a cup ( they should beat Spurs) and King is involved then it would be seen as the right move. If he spends three months on the bench doing nothing then its a waste of money.

Can imagine if he is any good for them we will be keeping an eye on him

missed out again!!! (😜)

Celtic's Jack Hendry is set to join his current loan club Oostende on a permanent deal with the Belgian side likely to activate his buy-out clause, reports Glasgow Live.

The 25-year-old defender, who has three caps for Scotland, has made only 15 Premiership appearances for the Bhoys since joining from Dundee in 2018.

Was thinking about that, obviously doesn't go straight into their midfield but is probably good succession planning in the event one of the midfielders goes in the next couple of years. Gives him time to adapt too.

Wonder if we still hold an interest as was previously suggested...

I mentioned the Leicester/Soumare interest here the last their day:

Something that I will never understand. Danny Ward signs a new contract at Leicester.

I get it that Ruddy, at his age, is prepared to play second fiddle and that the Fosun money he's on would be difficult to match elsewhere but keepers in their prime? Ward is 'good' enough to command a £12.5m fee, be the standout keeper in the Championship in his one full season of football but is prepared to train every week to sit on the bench at Leicester.

Yes the money will be good, but would it be that much worse at another PL/Championship side in need of a keeper? He should have displaced Hennesey years ago for Wales (as he rarely plays between internationals either) but instead has to rely on him being injured or getting the second half in friendlies against the likes of Andorra.

I never made it to his level because I wasn't good enough, but I had a 'better' career (even on a Sunday morning). He can spend his money and I get that but what a waste. Outside of a season and a half at Aberdeen and Huddersfield, he's played 23 games in the last 10 years, 8 in the league.

When he signed for Leicester there was a load of talk about Kasper moving on (can't remember who to, might have been Arsenal). But it never happened and suddenly he's swapped one bench for another.

He should be looking to get a proper gig somewhere you would think.

I think he is ahead of Our Wayne now though for Wales - neither of them play, there isn't anyone else to pick so they've gone with the younger/better option.

Ireland also have a first choice keeper who rarely plays club football in Randolph.

Yes the money will be good, but would it be that much worse at another PL/Championship side in need of a keeper?
He'll be making more money at Leicester than Barnsley for example. Depends on his motivation, his is clearly cash over game time. Ruddy's situation is probably similar, he was looked after when we went up

Difference with Ruddy is he wouldn't get a #1 gig at any PL club, not now, wouldn't have done three years ago either when we signed Rui.

Ward is better than a few first choice keepers (Ramsdale, Johnstone, Guaita, whoever Southampton feel like picking this week for sure) but is parked on the bench.

Ruddy has probably been on 30k minimum for 3 years. He’d struggle to get a 1/3 of that elsewhere unless it was another PL backup role - in which case what’s the point.

Championship clubs (or certainly not the ones he could go to) arent paying over 10k a week.
