Happy, annoyed or sad thread... I'm really not sure.
Network Rail have a "chat site/forum" called Yammer, that all staff can access and use. Over the last week we have received 2 emails from the CEO telling us how much industrial action will cost. He has then sent a letter out to all employees telling us the same, (way to save money, mate) that it will cost the company "£30m per day if you strike"
With the RMT and TSSA having an impending ballot for industrial action up to and including strike action, Nicky Hughes, a Network Rail "Director of Project Communications" decided to comment on a discussion thread on Yammer about said letter/emails. The gist of the reply to everyone who wanted a pay rise was "perhaps if you had worked harder at school, you'd be earning more money!" She said that "the alternative, of course, is Socialism and there is no evidence that it works". She then went on to say that she has worked in the rail industry for over 8 years and so she knows how things work.
These comments received "likes" from the Director of Corporate Communications and the Head of Leadership Engagement (?)
The "happy" part of all of this is that the Unions won't have to spend much money on campaigning for support, just a simple cut and paste will do the trick!
