The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

Happy, annoyed or sad thread... I'm really not sure.

Network Rail have a "chat site/forum" called Yammer, that all staff can access and use. Over the last week we have received 2 emails from the CEO telling us how much industrial action will cost. He has then sent a letter out to all employees telling us the same, (way to save money, mate) that it will cost the company "£30m per day if you strike"

With the RMT and TSSA having an impending ballot for industrial action up to and including strike action, Nicky Hughes, a Network Rail "Director of Project Communications" decided to comment on a discussion thread on Yammer about said letter/emails. The gist of the reply to everyone who wanted a pay rise was "perhaps if you had worked harder at school, you'd be earning more money!" She said that "the alternative, of course, is Socialism and there is no evidence that it works". She then went on to say that she has worked in the rail industry for over 8 years and so she knows how things work.
These comments received "likes" from the Director of Corporate Communications and the Head of Leadership Engagement (?)

The "happy" part of all of this is that the Unions won't have to spend much money on campaigning for support, just a simple cut and paste will do the trick!

Good old Yammer.

We use it too, one of our directors recently made a post about pay rises for colleagues out of London but intended 'outer London' queue lots of happiness and equally lots of fury when it was taken down a couple of hours later and they had to row back on it :ROFLMAO:

After yesterday's clusterfuck, we were cheered up by a trip to the Regent at Stoke to see Bat Out Of Hell. Great performances, enthusiastic audience, excellent result. Never been to the Regent before, it's good. Obviously if you hate musical theatre and the Album, you'd hate it but we had a great time.
Only slight disappointment was I thought I'd booked us a table at the Bella Italia opposite but it turned out I hadn't (fucking tech, knew I should have phoned up old school) so we ended up in 'Spoons' which was , well yer know

Ah the next time you go forget Bella and book Roberto's Pizza House. They do a theatre special and it's worth going just for the pictures on the walls.

For all Stoke's faults the theatres are fantastic.

After being car-less for just over a week (actually much more difficult than I thought it would be, especially as I’m not that mobile atm) I’ve finally found a replacement car :)

Would you like to tell the class how you ended up without a car? :D

Anne Robinson leaving Countdown. Excellent, I can start watching it again now as soon as she actually does one (this summer apparently).

Depends on who the replacement is I guess...

Thought she'd be dead by now, haven't seen Countdown for a while, sounds like I've had a lucky escape.

Not only is she not a very good broadcaster (God alone knows why the BBC had her as one of their top earners for years, even after The Weakest Link finished) but she's a truly horrible piece of shit.

Didn't watch a single episode when she started hosting.

I don’t think I have watched Countdown since the Richard Whiteley days. Countdown and 15-1 were essential viewing when I was a student.

My Mrs had her first scan today and it all looks groovy, we had a few miscarriages last year so couldn't be happier. It'll be our third and our first boy.

I need to start thinking of names, Ruben seems like a good choice!

Fingers crossed 🤞

It's happy and sad, but it belongs more on this thread.

Moving out the very last of my stuff very soon from the old house. We're starting our own chapter together and at the risk of everyone recycling their lunch, we're very happy with it. Either that or she's a really good actress. Fuck knows why, ask her.

Sad because that's my grandparents' old house and we're letting it go, I've known that literally all my life. 41 years. They were there from the early 60s at least I think. Strange to think of someone else living there. And I did like Bilbrook/Codsall to live in as I did for 10 years, once I started caring for my Nan (I mean literally being a carer, not that I decided in 2012 "I didn't give a shit about Nan before, but I do now"). I did get my Granda's retirement present the other day when we were doing a clear out, a signed Wolves book by all the squad around 1991. Mark Venus turned up to see him off on his final day too.

But all things come to an end, and I've got a new life now. Time to move on and I'm sure those who know me will assert that I look happy enough.

Good luck, hope it all turns out well

Great news and good luck. Third ones seem to be way more like hard work than the first two :)
