We've got one. It holds 2 litres. In the winter, our bedroom has moisture on the inside of the windows. First night we had it on, it filled the entire 2 litres!

It's a good one it switches off automatically when it's full and you can set how much moisture you want in the air

Outside of improvement of the building fabric ventilation is your friend.

Dehumidifiers are a bit of a red herring, the issue is warm air (which can carry more moisture) hitting a cold surface which reduces the amount of moisture the air can carry and therefore deposits it on the cold surface. That's why un old single glazed buildings youd get puddles on the windows.

Also drying clothes on radiators in the winter loads the air with moisture (as do showers) bathrooms really should have mechanical ventilation installed.
