The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

He's 28 at the start of next season
And?

There are plenty of teams that are more appealing than us in the prem outside the ‘big six’ like we are stil battling 17th going forward he’ll be gone if is form continues as

If we manage to stay up for a few seasons I don't think Agba will ever play for a bigger club than Wolves. His age and ball retention would count against him (even though, as inconsistent as he is, I quite like the way he uses the ball), as would the fact that we haven't seen him play in a 2 yet, there are only a limited number of clubs playing a back 3 at a top level.

If we go down we'll struggle to hold onto him.

It's been an ideal signing so far really and an impressive bit of scouting. Given where we are as a club, treading water hoping we don't go down before something changes at ownership level, he could form the basis of our survival bids for the next few years.

Fair points, I’ve been impressed by him personally coming into a new league and making an impact straight away, granted our defence was a shambles.

Just wouldn’t be suprised if he wasn’t here in 2 years if we are still where we are. Not saying he’ll end up playing in champions league as that’s a big stretch

What are his wages currently? I’m not against keeping him tbf. Gives Lima more time to mature as well if he’s the natural successor

Bound to be in the £80-£100k/week bracket, that's star player money for us rather than solid and dependable

He's one of 3 on £100k+. All will be leaving in the Summer

Not sure how he'd know for sure but Judah on a podcast when Cunha signed his new deal really went to town on how much Sarabia earns. Said it's outrageous and way more than anyone would believe.

Added that Semedo was another one, and Cunha's new deal had put him at that level.

I don't think anyone would have been surprised about Sarabias wages, he was still getting into the Spain squad when we signed him, hadn't long played for PSG and had just scored 21 goals in a season for Sporting. Was never going to come cheap.

I agree that we would all know he'd be a top earner. But, pure guesswork on the figure, if he was on £175k+ I think people would be surprised.

When you put it in black & white like that, what a monumental let down he’s been.

I'm sure I recall a figure of circa £120k p/w when we signed Sarabia. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

Yeah you can see he is a good technical player in patches but he's never put a run together and some of his weaknesses show up a lot in the Premier League, don't think he was ever a fit unfortunately.

Remember, we only paid a bag of chips for Sarabia.

That’s why the wages are high.

It would probably work out similar if we’d paid £15m for him and paid him £80k per week.

I think I said it a few weeks ago, I don't think he's necessarily a bad fit for the PL, he's just been so sloppy on the ball. It's such a shame because he's miles better than he's ever shown here.
