Jack Charlton was a superb manager for Ireland.Jack Charlton was the catalyst, picked every failed English player who’d once drunk a pint of Guinness.
And no problem with him using what was available to him. The only dodgy one was Tony Cascarino who as it turned out had zero Irish heritage.
Besides which they had the likes of Paul McGrath, Denis Irwin, Pat Bonner, Steve Staunton, Kevin Moran, David O'Leary, Liam Brady, Roy Keane, Frank Stapleton, Ronnie Whelan, Niall Quinn, nothing non-Irish about any of them.
As for nationality, who's to say to anyone else what they should identify as? Good luck telling Mick McCarthy he's English.
And if we're pointing fingers, John Barnes wasn't remotely qualified to play for England, nor was Tony Dorigo.
