The Race to be Relegated with Wolves, 24/25 Thread

Had a brief upturn when he swapped his bouncer suit for tight fitting sports gear but didn't last long

Keeping them up last year with everything going on around them was a decent achievement, albeit helped by the 3 promoted clubs being unprecedentedly crap. He won more points on the pitch than GON did

Before this season I thought his work at Everton was good, did well to get them out of trouble in 22/23 and made a very comfortable job of last year despite points deductions. He has a shelf life and hit the expiration date this season, at Leicester he would surely be a big improvement on van Nistelrooy who looks totally out of his depth.

Thing is though at Everton he did have a solid spine, especially for goal and CB. Leicester have multiple bad GK options, Wout Faes who is possibly the worst CB in the league and none of the other options are any good. Justin at full-back is shit too. Maybe if he went back five with Coady in the middle and Ndidi shielding they could at least tighten up a little. Bottom 4 are so bad you can probably draw your way to safety.

Millwall or a club of similar ilk on a school night with just 20k in the ground with about 200 away fans there. What’s not to look forward to.

I don't want to go down, but I understand this. I just don't think the Championship with Shi in charge will be any more fun. If relegation gave us a hard reset I'd take it, I just don't think it would

Yep.

No chance Shi reduces ticket prices, and no chance we approach a season in the Championship in the same way we did in 2017.

I also don't want a lot of our players to play for us anymore, regardless of what division we did ourselves in.

This is a good post and just highlights the crappy dilemmas we have. Stay up and either keep scraping by or get relegated badly or drop to the championship and become a ghost club winning about 16 games out of 46 and coming 11th/12th.

Had this conversation with Johnny earlier, he’s strangely optimistic about Fosun leaving if we go down. If we stay up it just gives them longer to destroy the club.

Johnny has held this view for a fair time, I don't think I agree.

Be careful what you wish for, guys.

The championship is an absolute shit hole.

No they'll just linger on I expect (once they've sold off all our assets of any value). The club barely costs them anything anyway, and they use our IP for the fucking esports.
It’s not our IP now though.

They’ll stay on based on the evidence of how many clubs bounce back assuming we can do the same.
Problem is they won’t manage it properly and will do a half baked job of it. Fully expect a season more akin to 2016/17 as opposed to 2017/18 if and when we go down.
