The R.I.P. Thread

Very much thrust from nowhere to world fame very quickly, had done a few things before but could walk down the street and have no problems. All 6 of them stated whilst it was great to do the show they felt very isolated at times and this in the 90’s when MH understanding especially of those earning well was dismissed as weakness.

That's quite a shock. Very young but I know he had lots of problems with addictions that could have affected his heart.
His autobiography is mostly about the miracle he was alive
His addiction to pain killers was insane. At one point taking over 100 tablets a day.

Darn - I was just about to start typing that and you have denied me my moment you rotter! It sounds a dreadful incident and the Ice Hockey authorities have at least acted very quickly in making neck guards compulsory.

Doesn't actually cover the elite league where this tragedy happened though.

The elite league are advising use for now and looking to mandate in the new year - from what I saw on the news last night.

Any reason why not given? I only saw the headline and assumed it was blanket
More than one ice hockey governing body in the UK. The Elite league has teams in Scotland and NI so not specifically covered by this as it's England only.

Has anything like this happened before?

"Waiting" until the new year seems a bit...
I don't really follow Ice Hockey but people who do seems to suggest this was a freak accident.

I guess there are parallels to the tragic Phil Hughes death in cricket in 2014 which then mandated the stem guards for cricket helmets also.

The video was on twitter earlier, didn’t look like an accident with the opposing player comes in with his foot at neck high
