Fair enough, but when you contract in spoken English, (and most post as they would speak) this is the special case where you can contract are to is, because you cannot contract to there're?

Shocked to read that. Always stirs a whole range of emotions when the person is a similar age to yourself. I’ve probably been a bit sanctimoniously preachy in the past about not smoking, diet, exercise etc, but hearing about the death of the likes of Nick Kamen reminds you how much you’ll simply need good fortune to make it to a decent age. There but for the grace of god etc....
