You are just plainly wrong on Cook. There is a professionalism argument to be had and also he benefits from what followed Corica, Sedgley, Ferguson, Osborn, Atkins etc, but we haven't had a better midfield passer of the ball since. Plus he left us to go to the PL with Coventry not downwards.

As for Marsden, we all know why he left.

I'm pretty sure I was in single digits when I saw Cooky play in my defence, I just remember him spannering the ball miles from any other wolves players - although I guess it looks awful if the player doesn't make the run.

Sorry, quite right - Ferguson was a steaming pile of manure who only played well in the 3 games before his contract ran out. I believe he has a premiership winners medal which surely must be one of the most embarrassing things ever

I would say K-Mac was better in that respect when he could be arsed.

When Cook was on his game he was very good indeed. Didn't happen anywhere near enough though and when he was bad, he was worse than having no-one on the pitch.

I think K-Mac max, on both sides of the coin, is a pretty fair assessment.

When on his game, he was just about my favourite ex player to watch, bar Bully (obvs), Rae, and Matt Murray as GK was my position.

Ferguson should never be compared to Cook. Ferguson is incomparable. An abomination of a footballer.

Cook had a great debut but when he wasn't on it he was a passenger and he was like that the majority of games. Very early on it became clear he was going to be something of a luxury item. The fact we've not had many decent central midfielders since says more about Wolves than it does about him. I honestly think Vaughan, Robinson, Gooding and Downing would run rings around our current lot.

Really interesting read DW. Looking forward to these. Don't remember much of Turner's reign, started properly following Wolves around 93 (I think), can remember patches of Taylor (will never forgot shootout against Sheff Wed) and was a season ticket holder from McGhee up until towards the end of McCarthy's reign. I do vividly remember going to Taylor's last game in charge and thinking how great it was to be part of a mob chanting for him to be sacked after the game, I think I was about 12!
