The Official World Cup 2018 Megathread

Well done Harry Kane, nice one.

One piece of praise I will give them - they've looked good at corners. Harry Maguire and Stones seem pretty dangerous.

Fuck you Tunisia you bunch of dirty cunts.

Absolutely, shithouse tactics getting undone. We've been poor tonight and the subs have been far better than the players that started. Young should never play for England again.

Not helped by a crap ref.

Thank god for that. RLC for Lingard and any fucker for young next match (I'm available).

Good result, fully deserved. We played well and kept on going until the end

Best side over 90 minutes won, England laboured 2nd half but should have been out of sight in the first half. The ref was appalling and wouldn’t expect to see him again in the tournament.

it can be difficult against negative tactics. set pieces look good. just lacked a bit of energy second half until the subs.

Rose for Young
Rashford for Lingard
RLC for Alli
Sterling out to the right, but he's in last chance saloon. He's had a wonderful PL season, but time and again for England comes up short.

Maguire & Trippier were the stand outs for me. Kane obviously for the goals. Sterling looked like the England Sterling rather than the man city Sterling.

Trippier was excellent, delighted for Kane to.
Whilst we struggled 2nd half we were playing against a side who zero ambition in attacking.
It was the right result look at the positives we were excellent first half and created a hat full of chances.

Maguire? He had a stinker in the first half.

Maguire? He had a stinker in the first half.

A few misplaced passes but grew into the game. Always an outlet, drove forward and intelligent enough to know that he didn't really need to play in defence. Assisted Kane for the winner.

Gives our defence an extra dimension

Many positives. I thought Stones looked very good in his role. Henderson actually played alright despite some stick I’ve seen him get. Trippier very good. For only ten minutes on the pitch RLC did great

Negatives? Concerned in the drop off in intensity. I know Tunisia slowed the game down but I’m not convinced we are fresh enough to keep up how we started the game. Key I guess is scoring those chances!

Oh, and Ashley Young. Rose will start the Panama game anyway, but I think he always would have

Can't see Southgate dropping Young. And if Alli is fit he will start with Lingard again.

We beat Panama, Belgium beat Tunisia and you could well have a match nobody wants to win. Winner (probably) gets Brazil in the 1/4 final, loser might get Mexico

Thought overall it was a good performance, yes the intensity dropped off second half but Tunisia were very good at spoiling tactics, Maguire got better as the game went on after a shaky start and Southgate made the right subs at the right time....although he should have taken Alli off earlier, ref was weak as fuck
