The way we play we don't have an alternative. Elsewhere, Stones has been poor and has shown against top class opposition he's mentally not there yet.

Stones has been the only thing stopping Belgium rinsing us in this game so far. Practically defended on his own at the back at tomes

I didn’t think he had that bad a game (until last 20 minutes or so) but just key mistakes I guess

No. I counted at last three occasions where Stones had to defend the Belgian counter attack as the last man whic he did amazingly to stop them create a chance

Maguire has a pretty poor game. Lost discipline last part of the game.

Maguire played LCB ok, Stones has to play sweeper and RCB as we had a slow ass idiot there.

Watched a different game to me YW. I thought Stones lost concentration a few times but as Mark said was good on the ball. Jones was very poor, consistently out of position and playing balls where the receiver was on the wrong side or had no option.

Maguire was solid enough, made good interceptions and was dominant defensively in the air. Like most of the team in the first half they were all at half pace though.

Maguire looked much better with Delph in front and latterly beside him. Conversely I thought Dier was much better with Lingard in front of him and Maguire stepping into midfield with the ball.

Agree on Dier - he was much better with options in front of him and he actually broke through Belgium’s defensive lines few times with good passing and movement.

I have no idea why Kane played when he is clearly knackered/injured really. Golden boot was never truly in threat. Think it sends a bad message too

Agree with you on Kane. Daft playing him really, he never looked right after Colombia. Looked shattered.
