The Official World Cup 2018 Megathread

Cyber the last time England lost a World Cup Quarter final was on a Saturday afternoon. As we play Sweden on Saturday afternoon should I be worried?
Don't forget that that both times the games were played on a football pitch and there will be 11 players on each side. It's spooky.

I thought Glenn Hoddle was a cunt that day and while I'm no soothsayer, there's a fair chance I'll feel the same way on Saturday afternoon.

Alan on Mark Geiger I'm seeing people online bring up a game he reffed at the 2015 Gold Cup as evidence for being a poor ref, Panama vs Mexico. Did you see this game, what did you make of it? Can't seem to find anywhere that allows me to look at the incidents as it's not letting me look at the highlights on Youtube.

Edit: I've had a look at the highlights and seems to me he gets all the major decisions right.

How many times do South American sides go out of world cups and then resort to conspiracy theory. Blaming the ref and the fact he spoke English so we obviously had a clear advantage.
Tim Vickery has just been on talksport and said Colombia played England as if they they were facing Brazil of 1970.
A question on radio 2 this morning was about the world cup referee's and language.
The answer was that all the refs have to know at least 2 languages with the 2nd one generally being English.

Personally I think England will win in the end, you have more talented players and fair play to Southgate, seems to have got a team together also...but we will give you a match at least

Oh shit, Fred thinks we'll win.

We're doomed

This is fun- please take this with the tongue in cheek

Here are the star charts for Saturday

Good day for Ashley Young and Raheem Sterling. Sterling may even score (choke)
Another poor day for Kyle Walker- the stars dont like him this week.
Granquist may have an injury?
Pickford needs to beware of slips trips and falls over the next three days, so it may be a slip in the match or a pre game injury? Either way Jordan, check your studs. No Robinson moments either

Prediction is 3 goals, but it was miles out in the last game. Also doesnt say which way which doesnt help.

Runes favour"the celts" but given that Sweden and England could both be described as having viking/ celtic routes I dont know what that means!

Better discipline this match from both sides.

Cyber soothsaying over!

Personally , its coming home.

Viking and Celts the same? You sure about that?

Only in terms of runes. They are a celtic/ viking thing so when they say celts will be lucky given these two teams I am not knowledgeble enough to differentiate! Rune casting is very similar to the pass the pigs game if you remember it. How they land is what you interpret after asking a question and as you lot have always told me , its mumbo jumbo! But its a bit of fun and great if a few predictions come off. TWF soothsaying Cyber Paul the Octupus!

from the internet but summarises technique nicely

Here is one way I do a rune casting. I reach into my rune bag, stir them around a bit and pick up a bunch. I "cast" them onto a white cloth, and see how the symbols land. Some will be face down and I ignore them. If a rune is upright, it has a certain meaning. If a rune is upside down, it has a different meaning. The combination of the visible runes affects the interpretation. Sometimes the runes "sing" to me and the answer to the question is instantly clear.

Erm, what the hell is going on in this thread?

There is no Celtic root in either Sweden or England.

Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Cornwall is established fact. Last time I checked cornwall was in England lol! Back to the world cup. 24 hours without football and it goes tits up
