Put it in the hands of an idiot and it will look shit.

Portugal's pen = correct (but he shouldn't have needed it)
Ronaldo incident = either a red or nothing, really, given the rules on what you can review (it probably was a yellow for both)
Iran's pen = mess
Iran's pen not given = not sure if it actually was reviewed but it was a pen, Carvalho the big fucking clown just bundled into him

Yes, who would be referee, the players seem to decide it's a call for VAR not the ones watching it.
That said, the referee still gets it wrong but will end up being abused either way.

Rules all over the shop - no one knows what’s what. I had both games on and at one point in the final 5 minutes I’m looking at two screens both split in to three waiting for a decision from VAR.

If that’s the future of football then I’m out, thanks.

Sorry - I was about to edit my post. I was watching them on beeb with half an eye and it looked like they were implying that there was an offside given, the defence stopped, Spain stuck it in, and then VAR overturned the first decision to allow a second shot to stand when the defence had stopped playing. It wasn't that way, so as you were.

I was very much against VAR before the WC but has been working rather well(obviously was a pen and red card on the push on Berg), but have been working pretty good and faster than in the football league
