The Official FIFA World Cup 2022 Megathread

Like their semi-final in 2018 France do an excellent job of seeing out games. Morocco missing the final ball often but apart from the chance where they hit the post France have had them at arm's length IMO.

welp, france/argentina could be a fun one. onward to sunday

I'm rooting Messentina.

Purely to shut up the Ronaldo lovers for a bit, and because a player as good as him deserves a World Cup to his name.

I’d like Messi to get a World Cup. Plus, we can’t really be having Deschamps winning back to back Works Cups.

Argentina for me too, can't have France winning it again, don't like them!

Thought France looked poor tonight, but they find a way still think they’ll win on Sunday.

Not sure I'll watch the final (I almost certainly will), I've just not got a dog in the fight, don't care who wins, maybe it will just be a really good game?

Nailed on to be a shit game with a Messi winner in 90’ +13’

It might just be me but why the need to want one team to win over the other...

If I settle down on a regular Sunday afternoon and the game is Leicester vs West Ham (for example) then I don't care who wins, providing the result either way doesn't impact on Wolves. I will watch it though and hope it's a good game.

I never like to see the same team winning it twice in a row . Spread it around - Argentina for me .

So - reference to the comments that it has been a poor tournament .

The standard of International football has fallen in general over the last 10 - 15 years . At present we have Germany at a fairly low point for them when you consider that they have been one of the powerhouses for many years . Brazil are a long way short of standards they used to set themselves .
Italian football in general has fallen way down . The recent win in the Euros was a surprise , they had momentum coming into to it and held onto it , just . However their word cup campaign was disappointing , failing to qualify for a finish .
The Spanish have become boring to watch and have no finisher , a big issue for them . Even their creativity is lacking .
The African teams as a whole have not made the progress you would have expected .
Portugal need to move on the older generation and sweep the broom wide while they are at it .
France are still up there , but they do have two world class players in Mbappe and Greizmann - tends to help .

It therefore should have been a great opportunity for England to make progress , but it was a chance spurned once again , against a French team operating at a far lower level than 2018 , with no Kante , Pogba or Benzema .

It should be a golden opportunity for England to emerge and win something . Time is moving on and the teams mentioned above won't be as average for a lot longer one suspects .

I guess we all watch it for different reasons, generally if I watch a game I nearly always have a preference as to who wins, whether that be the underdog or I like a particular player or as you say the result impacts Wolves.
