Nah, the overall quality has been pretty poor. Better than 2010 (like every tournament ever) but nowhere near 2014 or 2018. Good drama in some of these groups though.

I think the former has led to the latter. I've enjoyed it even if the general standard hasn't been top level.

I get the Suarez hate I really do and like so many of the other over the hill players in this tournament his best days are long behind him but in his pomp he was one hell of a player. Soiled obviously but without the freakish Messi and Ronaldo statistics that we now all know, his goals and games numbers are incredible. Bully got just over 300 and to most of us he never seemed to stop scoring over a near 15 year period. Suarez has over 500 in a similar time - most at the top level. Lewandowski deserves a similar accolade. It's been an incredible last couple of decades.

That’s a stonewall penalty on Cavani but nevermind…

They are often given but I think he throws his right leg out to initiate the contact. No pen for me but one I'm surprised wasn't given in real time.

Think its one of those where it's tricky to tell who initiated contact, I've seen more obvious ones given but as the ref said no then there's not enough evidence to say otherwise imo.

We’re on about the same one.

Forwards run accross defenders all the time to “take them out the game”. This is no different for me. He doesn’t do a Ryan Fraser and kick the other guy. The defender is behind him and is clumsy, he needs to give it up or make sure he is at least alongside him or take the long way round to get alongside him.

I´m telling ya..this forum is slower for me than the old GDR Kraftwärk forum I was on in 1989..so the walks takes a while..
I just cannot get on this forum..I do try though..but attention span is shorter for me now in my older middle ages than what it was when I was..kinda 12 year olds..way back when Larry Holmes was da champ.
