The Official Euro 2016 Megathread

I think the problem on the bottom of the draw is the Germans. Fully expect them to deal with Slovakia easily, and then pick of a tired winner of the Spain v Italy clash

I also mention again that Wales have played and beaten Belgium recently so I am hopeful of that one. Croatia (and to some extent Poland) look worries though. Frankly, I am happy already. Quarter-final would be an excellent achievement, and beyond that becomes dreamland.

I know for a fact if Wales were to make the semi-final (which is FAR from certain) I would rather face Croatia than Germany

If those two semis pan out and it would be great to see. I would rather go up against the Germans than the Croatians

Now for me not so sure.

Croatia could be utterly brilliant and blow you away. But they stand a chance of being susceptible to monumental brainfarts, disciplinary issues etc etc.

Germany will just be relentlessly the same. You have to beat them at their best as there is no chance of a drop in the standard.

Agree with that, you know what's coming against the Germans. Now I'm not daft and would love England in the semis but at the end of the day we'll probably fall short along the way.

Germany have had a definite drop off since the World Cup. Weren't that convincing in qualifying (lost to Poland, one point against Ireland) and they haven't been that great here. A good half against a very poor Ukraine team who let them play and that's about it. They still could have chucked points away in that game had the finishing been better. As you rightly point out Wales have beaten Belgium recently, England have beaten Germany recently.

Still a good team but this is the weakest they've been in a decade I would say.

England quite routinely beat top sides in friendlies though, whereas Wales was in two important games at the time really.

I'd rather face Croatia, just, for now. In great form but Germany are Germany, ha! I'd definitely rather be in Wales' side of the draw but think we will get about as far as we would have anyway whichever one we were in!

Gotze is the problem for me. Really lost it. And the solution certainly isn't Mario fucking Gomez either.

I agree with you, but Germany always seem to find something extra in big tournaments. I think they will win the competition.

Those odds are way too short!

Ha, not according to other bookies their not. I don't doubt for a minute it'll ever happen, but check betfair you'll find you can't lose if you have your head screwed on.

Lets face it there isnt a stand out team in the competition. No team has won all their games. Fancied teams look average or worse, minnows are over performing. According to rankings Belgium 2nd Germany 4th Spain 6th Portugal 8th England 11th Italy 12th Switzerland 15th France 17th Hungary 20th Slovakia 24th Wales 26th Croatia 27th Poland 27th Eire 33 Iceland 34. Its all to play for. Anyone can win it now

No way Northern Ireland are above Wales in the rankings. No way on earth.

Bizarre.

But there you go. I thought Wales were still in the high teens. Presumably that loss to Sweden in the friendlies tipped the balance?
