The NFL Thread

I doubt it was the cheating; has to be Brady immediately winning without him IMV.

It’s still really fucking surprising to me.

Rumours Fangio is retiring. Given his obvious successor has gone to the Cowboys, we can't get an OC that's either out of nappies or not good enough and the HC doesn't call plays, then it feels like the window is closing. So frustrating as I still think correctly coached they'd at the least have been playing last weekend.

That's brutal timing if true. Can't schedule that sort of thing, obviously, but to do it after Parker has left leaves the Eagles in a really uncomfortable spot.

Joe Brady was just the QB coach at LSU (with Joe Burrow) IIRC, and he’s arguably been a big success. Odds probably aren’t great, but it can happen.

Gotta start somewhere ay? He will certainly have weapons to work with and I imagine that the bar will be low after last season.

I think he was the OC at LSU? He had Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase and Justin Jefferson. So a tough gig.

Passing game coordinator and WR coach, it seems; definitely not what I remembered! Then straight to OC for Carolina.

Depends on what you mean with the bar being low? To be better offensively than last year, then yes, expectations will be SB though, realistic or otherwise. He's been a coach for 2 years, 1 as QB coach and was a career back up so isn't going to have an aura name wise.

You have a QB who is becoming increasingly stubborn, cosplaying Michael Jordan, without the talent to go with the prickly attitude, a star receiver who wants out, but might not get his wish and an emotionally volatile HC. It's asking a lot for someone with so little experience to navigate that and although I prefer it to say Nagy it's a swing for the fences and you strike out more often than you hit the home run.

I want to call that harsh on Jalen but you’ve seen more of him recently than I have.

Certainly a big job on Mannion’s hands.

Grizzard coming in as passing game coordinator and essentially OC2 takes the floor up. I've always had a love hate relationship with Hurts, this year he wanted to run his own offense, it was a shit show. He needs putting back in his box and do what he's good at.

Vikings fire their GM - Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.
Unusual timing.
That guy’s draft history is diabolical. There’s some wild stat like 80% of his 1st rounders are either no longer in Minnesota or outright no longer in the league.

This is a really interesting thread. Thank you. I am one of those people who has a longstanding interest in the game although I clearly don't have anything like the regular detail you guys have.
Thought I would share a song that some of you might not know. For certain some will!
Backfield in Motion by Mel and Tim from way back in 1969.

Seems the thing that's done for him is Darnold getting to the SB. O'Connell wanted to keep him, he wanted to back his draft pick. Pretty brutal outcome on that one.

In other sort of related news Klint Kubiak looks like he'll get the Raiders job about 10 days from now. Working for an absent Brady is a tough gig though
