Buffalo Bills vs. Denver Broncos
Time: 4:30 p.m. ET

San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks
Time: 8:00 p.m. ET

Houston Texans vs. New England Patriots
Time: 3:00 p.m. ET

Los Angeles Rams vs. Chicago Bears
Time: 6:30 p.m. ET

Feel like the 49ers have been shafted there, returning from the East Coast and playing away to a team on a bye with 6 days rest, they should have been the Sunday game in the NFC, when both the others played on Saturday.

Predictions in order of confidence:
Seahawks
Rams
Patriots
Bills

Be surprised if the NFC panned out differently, the AFC ones could both easily go the other way. Nice that all 4 are outside games.

Bills also play on a short week, flying to Mile High Stadium to play a Broncos team who have had 13 days rest. Not great, but they shouldn't have lost to Miami and Atlanta so they'd be the ones coming off a bye week. The bye week seems like it gives the 1 seed a massive advantage. Which is why you want to get the 1 seed.

Yeah, but in that case there wasn't really a choice given the Texans played on Monday and they wanted one from each conference on each day

Texans 'always' get the early saturday game, was very surprised they had monday night. Whoever won that game had to get one of the upcoming sunday games, but i cant see any reason why the 49ers shouldnt have got the other.
As regards predictions:
Seahawks
maybe Rams
Pats if i have to pick one
Literally a toss up

There should not be a Monday night playoff game because of this very situation. Its the NFL caring more about TV money than either player safety or competitive fairness. It definitively alters the dynamics of the playoff schedule and not in a good way. Monday night playoffs need to get in the bin. But we all know that won't happen because of $$$.

Gonna be honest, I think if the Bills get past Denver I'd rather not have them face the Texans defense in Houston again, its a bad matchup for Buffalo. However, I'd also like to see the Texans beat the living snot out of the Patriots and their smug Masshole fans. The Pats have had the easiest schedule in terms of opponent win/loss percentage in the entire history of the NFL. So I'd love the Texans to curb stomp them into oblivion.

Short of playing all NFC games on a saturday and all AFC on a sunday (or vice-versa), or all games on a sunday, eventually someone will have to play with one days less rest than their opponent.
Sure the NFL are most interested in money, but fans also dont want 2+ games at the same time.

I thought you would prefer to win in Foxborough!
Obviously I like the idea of a game in Houston, but would be nervous that you are due a win there.
But tbh I think both of us losing is as likely as both winning.

There is no trump card in playoff football like a good pass rush, and I think it’s fair to say at this point that Houston have an all-time greatness about their ability to do so.

I really think that Houston will at least make the Super Bowl, accepting that I’m biased because I’ve loved DeMeco since 2004.

Agreed, the 7th seed is now 1-11, which you'd expect going away to the 2, so that's not there for sporting reasons either, it's all about the revenue and coincidently keeping Matt Lafleur in a job. Just the one team earning the bye makes the 1 seed too valuable imo

Fun fact
DeMeco Ryans is younger than Aaron Rodgers.

The 7th seed Chargers fully deserved a playoff spot, very few people were fully confident that the #2 Pats would beat them.
From a purely sporting perspective you could argue for 8 seeds and nobody gets a bye. But that would probably mean adding a Friday night game. Or no wildcard at all - which means Panthers and Steelers but no Bills, Texans, Rams.

I truly cannot understate how much DeMeco fits into the sort of Steve Bull shaped mold in my life. 2004-2005 were years that defined a fuckin' wild amount of my personality, tastes, idols, etc etc.

The #1 is massively over-valued in the current system. And by comparison there is no real difference perceived between 2 and 3. Hence Philadelphia resting half a team against the Commanders as they literally didn't give a stuff about #2 or #3, but they really gave a stuff about star player rest schedules.
