The guy won 2 Suoer Bowls, including one against a team that was 18-0. By Alan's previous definition, he's definitely elite and better than Josh Allen. You can't have it both ways. Make up your minds.

Well personally I don't have it "both ways" in that case. Eli > Josh right now; you can fluke one ring (hello, Trent Dilfer) but if you've got two it becomes tough to assail.

Stats are lovely and all, but you play the game to win. Allen gets himself a ring and he'll vault into a higher tier amongst the "all-timers". Still not Mahomes' tier, but closer.

I mean, I probably would put Allen ahead of Dilfer. So that's something.

Didn't have a lot of choice really. You can't demote your QB1 to QB3 and keep him around when you don't even want him practicing due the financial penalty if he gets injured. Same situation as the Raiders and Carr a couple of years ago.

No real spot for him to land either as no team in contention is desperate for a QB right now.

He'll clear waivers due to the salary, he'll get an insurance job if he wants one, he's still better than most number twos. Or someone like LV who clearly don't have a QB might take him to see if there's anything there after a change of scenery, if it doesn't work then just release him again in January. A bit like Darnold at the other NY/NJ team, he's never had an oline to protect him, he not good, but he's not terrible.
