The NFL Thread

Tommy DeVito Vs Cooper Rush on thanks giving. 💀
The NFL can serve these type of games up! I'm certain having the Giants v the Panthers in Munich was the NFL's way of getting revenge for Germany starting WW2.

Allen isn’t near Mahomes even still. He’s got quite a ring gap to make up. If he keeps on playing as he has he may well take that first step this season. We shall see.

It’s Mahomes in his own tier and then everyone else.

To be clear, that says more about Mahomes than it does Allen.

Without wishing to go down the pecking order, I'd agree with the Top 4 being those who Dire said and I'd have a Herbert at 5. All AFC

The only reason Allen hasn't made and won a Super Bowl is not because of Josh Allen. He's walked off the field, winning in the playoffs against the Chiefs twice, and seen his defense/special teams lose the game. You can't say he isn't in Mahomes's tier because of that, Alan, that's nonsense. Time and time again Allen has put the team on his back and carried them to success IN SPITE of the efforts of his coaches, not because of them. Mahomes has had probably the greatest offensive minded head coach in the last 40 years of the NFL holding his hand the entire way.

I think Goff is making a case this year to be top 5. But that Lions offense has surrounded him with a ridiculous amount of talented weapons, so he should be putting up gawdy numbers.

Rings are the measuring stick. If the difference between Mahomes and Allen was just one ring, maybe I go along with the idea they’re in the same tier. But nah, not having it right now. There are only 4 other QBs ever to win 3 rings or more. You can’t have a guy who’s never appeared in a Super Bowl at all in that group.

His record in the cold is poor, although he did win in GB this year. I'd need to see him put that to bed before putting him at that level. 14/17 of their games will be in domes this season, plus every game in the play offs if they get the number 1 seed.

You can take the kid out of Cali, but you can't take the Cali out of the kid.

Not a fan of The Cowboys, Mike McCarthy, or especially Jerry Jones, but I almost feel sorry for them. An atrocious home record, a never ending injury list and average backups.
On second thoughts, they deserve it. The weight of expectation is heavy, but they're the Cowboys and Jones deserves it.
Turned into an easy W for the Texans who were OK but not great.

In that case Dan Marino and Jim Kelly, both first ballot hall of farmers don't qualify as top tier. It's a bullshit argument. Alan Shearer never won a World Cup. Not top tier. Ronaldo never won a world cup. Not top tier.

Allen's playoff stats are almost identical to Mahomes. His team and coaching have let him down. If Josh Allen plays for Andy Reid and he has 3 Super Bowl rings, absolutely no question.

Dan Marino and Jim Kelly are not in the top tier, IMO. And equally I would not have Allen in Kelly's tier at this time. Shit, even the likes of Drew Brees and Peyton Manning aren't in that most elite tier, probably. It's an extremely small group.

Comparisons with soccer feel off to me, in large part because there are simply that many more competitions in play. There's really only the one prize in the NFL.
