The NFL Thread

Are the Jets going to break Steeler hearts late in the 4th quarter?

Matt Ryan throwing away the game again. He's played well otherwise.

Ah well better draft pick!

One of those situations where you hope your team loses next week. Giants beat the Eagles and the Eagles come to Twickenham next year
Just to add to a shit season, the Eagles went and bloody won, so the Giants go to Twickenham

Team that finishes in the same place as the Rams in the NFC East will play them in London, as they and the Giants finished third, they'll play each other

I assume that's how the scheduling works for all regular season games, it's just that one which was picked for London?

I'd rather watch the Giants than the Eagles personally.

We get to see OBJ!

I can see why that would be more appealing from a neutral perspective. Riley Cooper isn't quite so sexy...lovely hair though

So - the wild card round appears to be:

AFC

Steelers v Broncos (unless San Diego beat Denver and Kansas beat Oakland, in which case Kansas will host the Steelers)
Chiefs / Broncos v Texans

NFC

Seahawks v winner of Minnesota / Green Bay game
loser of Minnesota / Green Bay v Redskins

If it weren't for home field advantage, you could make a case for it actually being better to lose that Minnesota v Green Bay game...

If the Vikings lose we will play the Packers in Green Bay again.

Are you sure? Seattle would appear to be sixth seed so surely they would be going to the winner, who would be third seed as far as I can see (divisional winner and better record than the Redskins who are guaranteed fourth seed status).

EDIT - Just realised that Seattle are of course still playing, and winning well, so they would sneak into fifth seed and go to Washington!

The only way the Vikings can play the Redskins is if Arizona win vs Seattle tonight but they are 33-6 down.

Basically if Vikings win skins play Green Bay
If Green Bay win skins play Seattle.

Vikings will be 6th seed if we lose.

I predict that the Seahawks will go to their third consecutive Superbowl as Number 5/6 seed. Smashed Arizona away today

Arizona were on holiday. Already had the bye so nothing to play for. Basically I can't see past Carolina in the NFC

Crap that the Vikings at GB game is on at 1.30 :( can't stay up until 4.30,

Panthers just feels like it'll fall apart when it really matters to me. Can see a Pats Seawhawks repeat

15-1 doesn't have the same ring that 16-0 has, but I'll take it

playoff time!

Well I got that wrong! Patriots surprise loss to Miami appears to have messed around with the AFC and the Broncos ended up number one seeds. Bengals dropped into the wildcard games.

Minnesota beat Green Bay and so will host Seattle. Packers will go to Washington.

In a "things are that, bad that even if we give it a go and it goes tits up we are no worse off" move, Browns have appointed Paul DePodesta (Jonah Hill's character) in Moneyball as Chief Executive.

Heard an interview on the back of that with a NY Times reporter who said that NFL teams have been slow to embrace the new analytical data approach compared to other sports and only a few teams use analytics in scouting, etc (and those that do, keep it low profile).
