The NFL Thread

Going to be very interesting to see what happens with Darnold in the off season. Reports from Adam Schefter earlier that the Vikings haven't had discussions with him about a contract and I don't expect they will having drafted McCarthy in the top 10. I think he's probably already earned himself a pretty lucrative multi year deal somewhere else though.

He ain’t winning, but I don’t think anyone would have believed that the Panthers could ever even look competitive with Bryce starting after week 2. It’s been really good to see him not looking panicked all the time (although that offensive line still ain’t helping him much).

Think O'Connell has been quoted as saying McCarthy will be QB next season no matter what. Easy to say, harder to do if you end up in the Superbowl though.

Obviously the huge amount of money paid to Jefferson (deservedly) may well force them either way as Darnold is definitely getting paid no matter what happens down the stretch.

One drop from potentially being able to tie the game tonight too. Benching him appears to have been beneficial and it's good to see him overcoming adversity when two months ago he looked done, and they were talking about trading him.

Their last second field goal attempt to win the game hits the inside of the post and is good.

After living in the states for almost 20 years:
Some days I still speak British English fairly well.
Very occasionally I can manage passable American English.
Most days it is a struggle to communicate coherently in either language.

Cowboys lost again. Shame.

So the star wider receiver who asked the QB to be the godparent to his child even before they were on the same team has now fallen out with him. That'll end well, all told by the longest serving player, who should know better. Imploding at 11-2 and a 9 game winning run. The Philly way.

But they had the stadium roof open for the first time in years so that "God could watch them play"...

Commentator seriously said that. Forget the Packers, the Cowboys are the team I can't stand. All of this "America's team" bullshit. Fuck 'em

Reasons to hate the cowgirls:

1. America's team
2. Jerry Jones
3. Man U of NFL. Local media spends 5 minutes on the cowgirls, 5 seconds on the Texans. (Houston is much closer than Dallas)

Looks like Belichick is coming to live with Alan in North Carolina (presumably not together) as UNC HC

Guess Bill didn't want the NFL record of most wins as badly as all the media heads said he did. Or of course no NFL owner would give him the total autonomy he would demand as head coach/GM.

I think the last sentence is probably the more accurate, he seems to be adamant you are getting McDaniels and Patricia if you employ him, which is very off-putting

Rumor is that he’s taking the job on the condition that his son gets the job when he retires.

Chapel Hill (aka, UNC) is a bit of a mess at football and doesn’t have a ton of clout in the region for that sport (important for recruiting at that level). Still, BB himself does have a ton of clout, so who knows. That Tar Heel defense can’t get much worse, and I expect Bill still knows a thing or two on that side of the ball.

Brutal injury for Cowboys LB Overshown: torn ACL, MCL and PCL. He'll probably not play until 2026.

I always think in the position the Saints were in you should go for 2 and try and win the game, but a play call that involves the QB rolling out is shit

No real misdirection or anything either, the whole D rolled with him.

Horrific head injury in the Dolphins game, which was stopped for a good ten minutes plus as a result.

Bills and Lions serving up a treat. The game everyone except Chiefs fans wants for the Super Bowl?
